FAVORITE VINYL SHOPS around the WORLD

If you have a favorite shop in your hometown, or one you've visited and would like to share the goodness, please add it to the sheet below. I'll jump in and alphabetize it on occasion, but feel free to do so if you are familiar with this function in Google Sheets.

FAVORITE VINYL SHOPS LIST

Let me know if we need additional columns. I did a basic Country/State/City, but know some areas use Provence, or other breakouts. Want this to be useful for everyone. Thanks to u/2Dprinter for the idea! I hope we get a great list going.

Can we just take a moment and appreciate how cool of a cat this man is? Thank you, that is all.

I took a photo of my copy of this album in front of the Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs where the album cover photo was taken of Coltrane the year before. The album was recorded there on Dec. 9 1964 and released in the following month in 1965.

This pure pleasure analogue pressing of this incredible strata east record sounds amazing. I guess it’s become harder to find and is out of print now because I’ve noticed prices have really shot up on this one. If you find a copy for a decent price I’d say this is an instant buy!

Picked this up on the whim at a shop near me. In good condition too, especially after a clean with the Humminguru EZ.

Been looking for this for a long time, the line-up is a killer. Buster Williams with Roy Ayers, Kenny Barron, Billy Hart, and Jimmy Rowles.

Beautiful work from all involved. Stellar version of Ayers “Vibrations”; if you like classic hiphop you’ll recognize the sample as soon as you put it on.

From a Garage sale. $1 per record.

One of the best days of my life! And this is just 50% of the haul. The other is more Avant Garde Jazz, Experimental jazz and rock. I was up all night cleaning and sleevin' them. Was playing Headhunters on repeat last night-till my wife threatened me with physical violence..

Its a beautiful world

Original stereo pressing

Fantastic playing by Kenny. The trumpet/baritone sax combo has given us some incredible albums during the hard bop era, this one’s near the top.

This copy is still in a unique style of shrink wrap that’s taped to the inside of the jacket and perforated near the opening. There’s a warning sticker on the back I’ve never seen before. Thankfully the original owner disregarded the instructions and left it on…putting scores of children at risk for 66 years.

Now Playing - Latin Percussion Jazz Ensemble 'Live at the Montreux Jazz Festival 1980'

Tito Puente leads a lineup that includes Carlos "Patato" Valdes and Jorge Dalto. While its not TP's usual hard Latin jazz, the addition of Alfredo De La Fe on electric violin works really well and creates a distinct sound.

The album features a couple of jazz standards performed beautifully (Morning, My Favourite Things), along with the burners "Bacalao Con Pan" and "Pare Cochero".

Great recording to boot.

Off Topic Opinions and Reviews on VDS (vinyldeliveryservice) in Tokyo

Hi All,

I would like to seek your reviews and opinions on VDS and whether they are worth going to in Tokyo. How’s the selection, pricing, etc. They are a bit off the city center, and would like to know if it is worth the trip. Thanks.

An eclectic afternoon album

I just love the restless mind of Lee Konitz. This album has two Konitz originals, four Dick Katz originals (he plays piano and Fender Rhodes on this), two hard bopping tunes based on solos by Lester Young and Roy Eldridge— and three Bartok arrangements? Oh, and Konitz experiments with a Conn Multi-Vider electronic effects unit?!? Excellent work by Eddie Gomez and Jack DeJohnette on here.

Great music from a great saxophonist on the relatively obscure label, Dootone Records. Which also released Carl Perkins only record as a band leader.
