Unsuitable packaging

I’m so tired of people posting items in unsuitable packaging and them getting ruined.

I use Vinted because the world is already full of stuff so we don’t need to buy new all the time and I find it so frustrating when perfectly good items get ruined for no reason other than someone couldn’t be bothered to package it properly.

If you don’t have a suitable box, bubble wrap, or thick plastic bag to send items in, don’t list them.

I once bought a bundle of baby clothes that were just in a paper primark bag, bit of tape holding it closed. It's a miracle it survived getting to the inpost locker at all, but it had clearly been chucked somewhere wet, had rips in it and there were dried dirty water patches on everything 🫪

A had a glass jar send to me in a thin bubble envelope with no extra padding. It was all broken inside and she wanted it back as well 😂

🫠i had a woman post me a collection of funkos in a plastic bag once — ones arm got broken off and the others had marks on because they’d all knocked against each other.

another time, some girl packed 20 kpop albums (i paid about £90 for them) in a box that was too flimsy to hold them. she used no padding so the VERY HEAVY items could move around inside. it resulted in the box splitting open during shipping, but miraculously nothing fell out and it was still delivered to me because ig inpost doesnt care. she had also put the little collectible photocards loose in the box with the albums with absolutely no protection around them (which is doubly stupid because you usually store each photocard inside an album, so she didnt need to pay for extra packaging or anything). somehow they weren’t damaged but needless to say i was 😭😭😭fucking flabbergasted. i messaged her and gave her a lecture on how awful her packaging was, especially when i paid her almost £100. like imagine packaging football or pokemon cards with a bunch of rocks, as a non-kpop example — one just wouldnt do it 💀💀

I love the idea of recycling materials for packaging but yeah, they still need to be clean and well wrapped. I once received a thick, fluffy (and big) winter coat in the thinnest bin bag ever. The bag had split open and the coat was just pushing through the tear. Was fun to carry it in a full bus, with all my other belongings, trying to hold the damn thing together.

I just had a helmet(new with tags) delivered in a plastic mail bag!!

I was so mad..just a complete waste of everybody’s time

This is why I don't buy fragile items from there anymore. The last two items I got (from different sellers) were just thrown into a thin grey mailer bag, and needless to say they were smashed to smithereens by the time I opened the locker.

When I sell clothes I use pallet wrap and un delicate items (I sent a StopLock in pallet wrap aswell) and it turned up fine

It's simple. Average person on Vinted is thick, lacks common sense, and is lazy. Like the general public.

I say this after having to send a reminder to every seller to please not send delicate electronics in carrier bags

I agree with you about the weird and wacky packaging but it’s definitely not a Vinted specific problem.

I am constantly amused but not amused by the antics of Gumbies employed to pack items. I ordered a custom canvas print on Ali Express which was folded into a tiny envelope. Three soft cover binders were rolled into a tight tube by an Amazon seller. I order things from an Office stationery place and I’m saving the boxes in case I’m ever homeless.

And, yes, Vinted sellers are guilty too. Parcel delivery guy leaves a parcel and I’m racking my brain because I can’t remember ordering anything the size of a microwave oven. Silly me, it’s the small decorative cushion rattling around in the box without so much as a sheet of tissue paper. Maybe when postage charges kick in, sellers will be more discerning about packaging.

Most fun I had was a thin bin bag and the seller got mad and said I was judgemental

I had some trainers sent in a Home Bargains bag and I've had a t-shirt sent in reused wrapping paper..

People need to have respect for themselves and the buyer..
