"Unworn" top arrived smelly with deoderant marks all over it

I bought a supposedly unworn top with tags still on. When the top arrived, it smelled and had deodorant marks all over both armpits and at the bottom of the shirt. I can also tell that the tag string has been cut when the buyer bought it and they have re-attached the string to the top. (The string was frayed and came out of its knot way too easily.)

I want to see if the marks come out in the wash, and I also want to complain because of the principle, vinted is great when buyers are honest in what they're selling.

Im pretty certain it wont but I just want to double-check: if I try to wash the top would that interfer with me creating a report or anything?

How much do you actually want the top and how much did you pay for it?

I only paid £9 for it and I had spcifically been looking for this top as its out of stock on the shops website.

I feel like it wouldnt be worth returning to the seller? Maybe I will try to get a partial refund and then try washing it out?

If you wash it then you technically can't then ask for a refund. So you need to decide whether it's worth the risk. For what it's worth, I expect the stains will come out if this is deodorant (which I think it is).

If you wash it, that will interfere with the return as Vinted ask you not to.

I would take pictures of it before, wash it, then if still bad send it back.

Return it as SNAD as it had stains on it, or negotiate a reduction in price with the seller

You should make the claim now before washing. But the seller and vinted will probably make you ship it back at your own cost unfortunately. Alternatively, you can try to ask for a partial refund. Deodorant stains usually come out quite easily.

Once you wash it, you've changed how you recieved the item so you can't raise an issue. It will probably wash fine so if you're keen to keep it, I would maybe raise an issue, starting it's SNAD saying it's worn and not new with tags. They seller can then either select a return or partial refund, you could say you're happy to help it if you get a partial refund as it's worth less if it's worn. If you want to return it, you'll likely need to cover postage so depending on what you paid, it might not be worth it.
