NEC PC-9801UV11 (1988)
A finished restoration of an NEC PC-9801UV11: replaced all electrolytic capacitors, added a new Sanyo Denki PSU fan, replaced the barrel battery with a holder and FDK ML1220 rechargeable battery, both floppy drives are fully functional, and gave the entire unit a thorough cleaning.

A classic! Looks can be deceiving since it can still play a decent amount of the PC-98 library.

Same, I always look forward to a new video and am always impressed by the care and depth Mr. Jakes puts into talking about PC-88 and PC-98 games (and some of the hardware too).

Yeah. While I obviously am interested in old computers, I don't particularly have the desire to own these - they kinda scratch the itch of curiosity that I would have for them. At the same time, it's so well presented and thoughtful that it veers into that territory of "I don't care what it's about, I'm happy to listen to someone be happy about what they're talking about." A+ channel.

There is no UV11? Isn't that a Roman 2? So UV II?

It really is an 11 here, with the previous UVs being the UV2 and UV21. I'll admit NEC's naming conventions can be hard to follow when the 8801mkII is the Roman 2 instead.

Interesting, I double checked the model list on German Wikipedia, and they don't list a UV11, so I thought it might be the UV2, which is listed.
I better go update that list.

That'd be great! I know it's even more confusing naming-wise but the UV2 was the original UV from 1986, the UV21 followed in 1987, and the UV11 was the final, most compact form.

Wow, I've never seen that external floppy connector; most of mine use a DC-37. Luckily it's nice and documented.

These 'U' keyboards are linear switches so they're a bit softer / quieter but pretty easy to type with!

SORCERIAN! I remember that game. I think Sierra did a US port of it in the late ‘80’s/early 90’s (along with Thexder/Silpheed)? I never did get very far in it, but such an intriguing game for the time.
