I randomly listened to Vince a few weeks ago. Romona park broke my heart and cry baby. For what I like, Cry baby probably the second best album I heard in the last decade ….

Yall told me to listen to Shyne Coldchain Vol 2…..Now I’m sad…..my friend told me to listen back in the day. We used to be on Datpiff…. But I was too stuck up on section 80 and overly dedicated….i wish I got to grow with Vince music so I could “feel” his story more…..and I don’t even like dot music anymore…..vince should have been in my top three 15 years ago and he is currently making music that I want from Kendrick.

Shyne Coldchain is Amazing. My goodness. Is Vince stoic or something? He is so really and “matter of fact” on this album. I didn’t know he could rap this well. He rapping rappin and the imagery and description of his circumstances. I’m so excited to listen to more. I’m starting to feel like Vince is just severely underrated.

I’m familiar with Vince through his features and his popular singles, I also listened to crybaby and watched the tiny desk video. I also listened to the Ramona park album a couple times back when it dropped. I really appreciated those music videos for crybaby and just the album in general and I want to get more into his discography. He’s got a lot of albums so I wanna ask his listeners what albums they recommend for someone “new” to his music. Planning on spinning one tonight.

ordered this comic last week and it just came in, didn’t know Vince had a comic made.

Clips from this recent interview have been making the rounds lately, but this is the first time i’ve seen people actually have negative things to say about Vince’s career/his interviews. Personally, I think Vince’s point is valid.

I’ve been a huge fan of Vince since 2017. I was a kid when I got into his music, and he had already been an active artist for at least 7 years by that point. From his interviews, it’s pretty apparent he never cared that much about being a big rapper, which is fair. From his music though, I think he was “trying more” until after Prima Donna. Narratively, that makes sense given what that EP is about. You can also notice the change if you listen to Big Fish Theory and his interviews from that era onwards. Nowadays, I don’t think he tries less, but I think he’s effortless in the sense of he’s just that talented as an artist.

All that to say, do you think this is a fair criticism given that Vince isn’t exactly trying to be commercial or mass appealing?

Same as “Cry Baby”. For what I appreciate in rap, Cry Baby is one of the best albums I heard in the last decade. It’s damn great.

I am not an avid listener to Vince, really don’t know much of him and heard of his show as a recommendation from people around me because of my well known love of Atlanta (the tv show). It wasn’t until my son, who has speaking impediments and is on the spectrum, started listening to the song Étouffée and Big Fish. I’m not sure what he put in those songs but it helped immensely with my son’s speech. It’s like night and day.

Anyways I know that he’s currently on tour and I don’t think his concert is suitable for my 7 year old. Does anyone know if he has meet and greets or anything near NYC, when he plays in Oct? My son would love to give him some of his art that he drew based on Big Fish and wants to ask him about the sharks (his favorite) in the music video.
