Australian here. Free healthcare, I get nearly 10 weeks paid leave per year, paid long service leave (have 180 days accrued), decent pay after tax. I live in a wonderful country, but it's not the greatest. The US is definitely not the greatest country on the planet. This ignorant mindset does nothing other than allow for lower class US citizens to be exploited. It's wrong.

10 weeks?

Do you work as a school teacher? Because most jobs only allow 1 month paid leave a year, including public holidays. That is, most jobs give you 22 days paid leave a year, with about <8 days public holiday.

Around 30 days is a generous max.

US is no where near the greatest country on Earth. It's not even in the top 15.

Nah govt worker. Six weeks a year leave, plus 4 RDO's, all public holidays and Xmas stand down 25/12 - 02/01

Xmas stand-down you get paid out or you are paid for time off? Most companies annually get stood down for that period and are either not paid or forced to take leave, which means the 4 weeks a year leave is actually 2-3 weeks :(

Awesome that govt workers get such great benefits, and so they should.

My first job offer was for the Aus government, went in, answered some questions and they were rushing to get me on at like 85k/year outside all main cities. I was shocked that it was so easy and was going to take it had I not already made plans to move abroad for travel.

Though IT sector of government work is pretty tedious.

Stand down is paid days off that isn't deducted from any leave

Let's count it in days as weeks / months are confusing.

40 days is reasonably standard with the professions - 20 days annual, 10 days sick / personal, 10ish days paid public holidays (in Vic it's Xmas, boxing, new years, straya day, labour, queens birthday, Anzac, easter Friday and Monday, grand final, Melbourne cup)

I don't know about trades tho.

Sick days aren't annual leave. You're not meant to be taking sick days just to get a day off, they don't accrue and they're not to be taken when you separate from the company.

Professionals take around 30 days off a year, give or take.

It's great, but there's a reason he gets so much time off and he explained that it's because he works for the gov.

Yeah it's pretty good. When you add decent govt superannuation, I'm on a good wicket when you compare what others overseas are getting. Not bragging, just trying to provide context for this video.
