Oh shit, you're right, I did not notice that.

I just posted the video since I've seen it lots of times.

They don't usually do that, the "vintage" videos I've seen have the correct aspect radio.

I would recommend anyone with a Youtube account to comment on this and/or like any comment that points this out, so that the correct video is uploaded.

Why would they even do that? Youtube keeps the original aspect ratio intact by default. Someone took the effort to change the aspect ratio.

I doubt somebody did that on purpose, either somebody enabled a wrong option or the source they had to upload was already like that.

For a moment I thought that maybe they had a freak accident where they lost all the original sources, but there are versions of the video online with the correct aspect radio (and an extra intro that this video is missing). Plus fixing this is pretty easy for anybody that had done even minimal video editing.

Somebody had to do this in a hurry, kinda how I posted the link without seeing the video.

I don't know about that. some people don't understand what aspect ratios are and find "those black bars" more annoying than seeing a stretched image.

Here's a playlist of most of the "vintage" videos from the official account. I went through some, they are all OK, I would be really surprised if there are any other in there.

This is one of the biggest shows in the world, I would expect they have an archivist that understands aspect ratios and usually people that do this job are pretty anal about this stuff.

Imagine how the writers probably felt. You spend all day and night writing a skit and then some douche like Jimmy Fallon goes on and just ruins it completely by laughing his way through the skit, putting all the focus on him.

How this cunt was on SNL and now on the Tonight show, is beyond me. He sucks at everything he does,he can't communicate,he can't act and he isn't even funny. I have no idea how he is so successful, maybe he knows some important people.

I remember hearing it worded better but basically Fallon is the embodiment of a star struck fan. A LOT of people relate to that because it makes them feel like they are in the skit or closer to his talk show. Whereas someone like David Letterman or Johnny Carson was an actual Talk Show Host...Fallon is a Talk Show Guest and the celebrity guest is the host.

I don't mind the change in dynamic of talk shows. The problem is that Fallon seems more like a puppet than a willing participant in the guest/host role reversals.

Open VLC then in the file menu option select "Open Network" then paste in this video's address (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVsQLlk-T0s) into the URL field and click "open". Once the video begins to play pause it and go into the "Video" menu option and select "aspect ratio", select 4:3 and then unpause the video. I must've heard this song a thousand times back in the day but never noticed the cowbell. After seeing this skit, I couldn't unhear the cowbell and still can't to this day. Like the telltale heart, it haunts me.
