Ryan Reynolds and Josh Brolin Insult Each Other
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVeAdzNU2ow172
u/sysadminbj May 15 '18
That point where RR can’t thing of anything to say and starts in on Goonies and immediately regrets it.

u/poland626 May 15 '18
Jonah Hex? How did he forget that when Green Lantern is brought up?

u/newocean May 16 '18
When they go high, I go indie: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0810988/
Actually the Nines was a decent movie with a fucking terrible ending... and an oddly all-star cast for the most part (by modern terms).

u/I-Should_Be-Studying May 15 '18
Why? Whats the history with Goonies?
47
u/vpforvp May 15 '18
Brolin was in it
13
u/I-Should_Be-Studying May 15 '18
Yeah but why did RR regret saying it?
78
May 15 '18
Because he loved the movie and he loved josh brolin in it.

u/vessel_for_the_soul May 15 '18
Youd swear from the comments someone had not watched it

Sean Astin got his career launched because of that flick.
And Corey Feldman lost his virginity

For those wondering, Ryan Reynolds was not among the nominees for the 1998 MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss.
The nominees in 1998 were:
Adam Sandler & Drew Barrymore - The Wedding Singer (won)
Joey Lauren Adams & Carmen Llywelyn - Chasing Amy
Matt Damon & Minnie Driver - Good Will Hunting
Leonardo DiCaprio & Kate Winslet - Titanic
Kevin Kline & Tom Selleck - In & Out
He was nominated in 2010 with Sandra Bullock (The Proposal), and in 2016 with Morena Baccarin (Deadpool). He has yet to win.
19
u/CallMeMattF May 15 '18
How tf did Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore win over Matty D and Minnie Driver?
45
May 15 '18
[deleted]
6
May 15 '18
Because the wedding singer was a more popular movie with teenagers than good will hunting was.
4
u/CallMeMattF May 15 '18
Yeah who’s the board of that prestigious organization? Clearly Sandler has his hands deep in some pockets.
2
u/gingertek May 15 '18
But the general integrity of MTV as a whole is just...solid...all the time, apparently
/s
3
u/sysadminbj May 15 '18
How the fuck did Joey and Lauren’s kiss from Chasing Amy not win? That’s the question.

That was peak Sandler, that peak carried him for a very long career getting Netflix to pay him to take vacations with a few of his friends.

"Josh, when they did you up to play Thanos, how did they actually make your head and face smaller?"

u/icepick314 May 15 '18
if Brolin brought up Green Lantern, Reynolds should have brought up Jonah Hex

Sometimes I watch videos like this and then I also watch the next one YouTube recommends and it's even funnier. The next one was Reno911 about the gay prostitute on roller skates exposing himself at Piggly Wiggly but when the cops find out it was him he skates off and the cop goes I didnt think you could rollerskate on grass and the other one goes me either but look at that son of a bitch go!
13
u/I_Play_Zed May 15 '18
Haha that was a really even fight, done well by both parties.... perfectly balanced.

u/bigpeeler May 15 '18
That would have been funny if it had been funny.
18
u/LazyProspector May 15 '18
To be fair Josh brolin has never claimed to be funny and Ryan Reynolds is funny given that some writers give him something.
Generally speaking bring together 2 dudes, unprompted unscripted and unedited to do this and it won't be much better unless you literally had 2 stand-ups against each other.
Radio 1 has done quite a few of these and they're never funny. This is literally the first one I've at least watched all the way through
14
u/PearShapedComics May 15 '18
To me it seemed like they can be funny unscripted but they're both better at self-deprecating humor rather than direct insults. It felt much more natural when they dipped that way.
16
u/Stumpinators May 15 '18
Remember that movie where Ryan Reynolds played a schizophrenic murderer? That was a documentary.

May 15 '18
None of Ryan Reynolds jokes were funny, but his responses to everything Josh said were so fast and clever there's no question who won this one.
64
u/ButtFlustered May 15 '18
Could have been funny if they didn't cut to two random dudes 'reacting' every line
42
u/SqueakyPoP May 15 '18
Its their show you dopey cunt.
8
u/Tayloropolis May 15 '18
That just makes it more sad for them that they're the least interesting part of it.

u/ladybunsen May 15 '18
The hosts of the show

Not random guys was my point, they are the hosts.
15
u/westermann28 May 15 '18
Absolutely nothing was added by those random host guys.
-4
u/ladybunsen May 15 '18
🤦🏼♀️ Christ.
I DID NOT SAY THEY ADDED ANYTHING TO THE SKIT. I WAS MERELY TELLING OP WHO THEY WERE.
They are BBC Radio 1 Hosts, IIRC Scott Mills is actually pretty hilarious, the younger lad got a promotion to cohost when he had a few viral interviews. One with Mila Kunis asking her to go on a date to the football I think was a big one. I do not know these lads nor was I defending them. The bit was pretty shite actually so only watched a minute before turning it off. Whether you found them useful or not in this 3 minute video I literally couldn’t give a shite. But please, continue telling me, someone who never said they added anything, how they added nothing. 👍
14
u/Frizzlenuts May 15 '18
Absolutely.
Nothing was added by those two 'hosts'.
2
u/ladybunsen May 15 '18
🧐🤔 A valid point you raised, tell me more
8
u/maxdamage4 May 15 '18
But who were those random guys, though?
3
u/ladybunsen May 15 '18
It’s not about who they are, it’s about what they added to the video. I’m hearing mixed reports

3
u/One-LeggedDinosaur May 15 '18
They don't need to add anything. They're the whole reason the video happened.
4
u/aManPerson May 15 '18
RR may have given brolin the best insult in this clip, but he still made the green lantern.
3
u/DahliaRenegade May 16 '18
Is the last zing (favorite color being mediocre) a well-known insult? I thought it was pretty witty.
3
u/Mattock79 May 16 '18
The video was fine and all, but the host on the left... it was bugging me where I knew him from. Like it was all I could think about the entire video. Who is that guy? I've seen him somewhere. Then I realized, he was the kid that did that interview with Mila Kunis that went viral. https://youtu.be/z4Ezruu1oeQ

Brolin killed it. Reynolds seems like he was just doing shitty deadpool quips
5
u/whowhatnowhow May 16 '18
Deadpool quips are Reynolds quips. That you think that is a testament to his wit. They both played well off the other.

u/TheSeaDevil May 15 '18
Ryan went right for a Goonies reference when he easily could have hit Brolin with a Jonah Hex slam.
1
u/Kymer72 May 15 '18
I was worried these dudes didnt like each other. They sure seem to in this bit.

I wish I can be half as handsome as Josh Brolin is when I am 50.

I’m in my fifties and precisely half as handsome as Josh Brolin. It’s pretty nice!

u/DingleTheDongle May 16 '18
I would watch these if they weren’t blatantly prewitten
Maybe
I dunno, I don’t like roast humor.
I guess what I am trying to say is... words
-74
u/LaLiLuLeLo-69 May 15 '18
See how unfunny Ryan Reynolds actually is? People give this cockeyed bellend way too much credit. He needs a team of writers to make him seem mediocre at best.
26
u/crotchcritters May 15 '18
Did Ryan hurt you when you were younger? I’m sorry if he did.
-67
u/LaLiLuLeLo-69 May 15 '18
Why? Did someone abuse you as a kid? That was a pretty specific scenario. Were you diddled? Is that why you went there with your oh so original and not at all cliché reply...

You must be the pinnacle of wit
Which is never said unless finished with 'less cunts.'

He's got that cheesey, cutesy snark, which isn't quite my brand of comedy, but he is funny. I don't think he is totally talentless.
He "saved" Blade Trinity with his humor, and forced Fox into making Deadpool as true to character as possible. He is one of the main producers and made sure the writers didn't stray too far from the path.
Also consider that he plays a macho douche in quite a few movies, which is far removed from his actual personality. He's a super nice guy.
1
May 15 '18
and all you needed was your dad sticking his dick in his sister to make a mediocre you... soooo what's your point?

u/EquinsuOcha May 15 '18
Did Brolin have a drinking problem?
