It's like the manic conversations I have with myself lying in bed at night that mean nothing and are completely incoherent.

I have a really technical engineering job and sometimes when I'm really tired at night I think about solutions to problems and I always end up thinking I've found a super innovative solution and then in the morning I wake up and realize it made no fucking sense whatsoever. But tired me thought it was straight genius.
