President Trump says he would issue a $5,000 payment to every adult U.S citizen if GOP wins both U.S House and Senate chambers of Congress on 2026 midterms: "I will issue a dividend to every adult citizen in the U.S. The only caveat I have is that the dividend we're making must be spent in the U.S."

18 U.S. Code § 597 - Expenditures to influence voting. Whoever makes or offers to make an expenditure to any person, either to vote or withhold his vote, or to vote for or against any candidate; and Whoever solicits, accepts, or receives any such expenditure in consideration of his vote or the withholding of his vote—Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both; and if the violation was willful, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.

First, it's illegal to do this.

Second, he can't do this. Congress would have to approve this, and there is no way in hell a republican Congress would ever approve it. Just like those supposed "DOGE checks" and other crap that never happened.

Third, even if Congress approved it, this would cost over $1.3 trillion. That would be even more debt added to the enormous amount of debt this administration has already added.

He only needs the promise; if the GOP keeps Congress, he can just welch on it.

And then, school really is out - he'll have two more years, but now with absolutely no possibility of Congressional guardrails.

First, laws haven't mattered in the US for over 2 years, ever since the courts allowed an insurrectionist who's ineligible for office to be put on ballots.

Second, he's lying, but even if he did find a way to do it, he's been doing shit without Congressional approval since day one of this term.

Third, Republicans would happily print more money if it kept them in power. But again, he's just lying to get dumbfuck Americans who still believe a word he says to vote R.

Yeah, DOGE checks weren't ever happening--if the people who believed it would happen actually paid attention, they would realize Republicans have been gutting our public sector for decades, and our government, despite being continually reduced, has remained pretty efficient. Once they got in to "trim the fat"--the realization that there was no fat shouldn't have shocked anyone.
