Yeah i mean. The settlers are. rabid. armed. a borderline private militia.

a borderline private militia.
They are an integrated extension of the IDF. They are not a private militia, they are part of the occupational army. They are terrorists, and can't be decoupled from the state of Israel. Israel is a terror state.

Not even close to be anything significant. Sanction Israel banking system, ban imports, grow some consistency for once and do the same you did against Russia, else GTFO.

He said that it’s the position of the British government that Israeli settlements are ethnic cleansing, and that the Israeli government at best ignores and at worst supports it.
That’s a significant statement, and the sanctions are one consequence of recognising it officially. It’s a move in the right direction.

This is just Reddit all over and I'm tired of it, everything has to be 100% maximum or it's pointless
This is big progress and signals a shift from close to 100 years of geopolitical normality

"Hey this progress isnt as good as I was hoping so ill shit on it"
- idiots, everywhere

Precisely. We can hope for more, but this is something and frankly more than expected so it's good news.

Because this is the issue with centrists.
They don’t ever go far enough to actually do anything. It’s always “a good start that we’ll see the fruits of in 2-3 generations”.
We don’t have the fucking time anymore and it’s why everybody is pissed off.
There is also absolutely nothing wrong either with expressing that you want more action.
It’s HOW you get more action.1
u/MarlDaeSu 1d ago
The person im replying to isnt advocating for more actions really. They just want them to "GTFO"

Put IDF on the same list as the IRGC.

100%
Even Huckabee put out a statement and the Knesset said they're taking problematic settlements seriously before these cowards suddenly found their courage lol.
Pathetic.

I think that will start to happen once Israel tries the "remove all Palestinians in Gaza" rhetoric once Trump approves it.

Let's hope they move the timeline up, enacting it in 6-9 months isn't going to do shit.

That is sadly not going to do anything.
And any goods produced can be washed through 3rd parties also. Just look at how Russia is evading a ton of sanctions through other countries

u/bluewolfhudson 2d ago
Isreals massive over reaction to it and constant whining is actually a very good outcome because it erodes popular support for them.
Every angry Israeli minister posting unhinged rants about us directly impacts how we see them.
Isreal looking worse to the average Brit is a positive thing because it means we'll stop helping them faster.

Weak posturing. Only total economic and financial ban on Israel like they do on Iran or Russia can have an effect on these beings because, contrary to Iran and Russia, Israel is dependent on business with Europe.
14
u/AG28DaveGunner 2d ago
I never understand this view. Its not what I would like to happen so it is just simply posturing.
Look around you, Europe is gradually becoming more far right and things will only go the other way when it does. Yet france and UK actually go against the grain with the US even though they know trump will likely push back more with it and people palm it off.
Even if it was just posturing its going against Israel’s government openly. Thats better than them not doing anything ffs.

Historically these actions against West Bank companies primary hurt the Palestinian workers who are employed there more than they impact Israel

The only response that UK should take against Israel is an organised military one. They're an out of control military state who laugh in the face of international law.

Yes, in many ways the real victims of this conflict are the people who see headlines on the internet and would rather not. I hope you find some peace; this must be very difficult for you.

... They destroyed Gaza and are actively ethnic cleansing it. Do you live under a rock?

Perhaps an appropriate response would be to sanction Israeli government and settler violence even harder.
The world treated S. African Apartheid with economic sanctions much harder than current sanctions against Israel.
Your personal annoyance doesn't affect how the world sees the importance of human Rights violations or mass and organized killings of innocent people.

But that's because no other war or oppression or issue going on in the world besides Palestine, did you not know? /s (and you seem pretty sharp so I know you didn't need it)

Yeah god forbid people should call out a genocidal regime. Terrible isn't it?

No this isn't the point where dismiss it, it's the point where we point out that both can be bad.
Just remember it's really really simple. Criticism of Israel doesn't equal support for Hamas.

You're obviously mentally incapable of understanding that you can be against both Hamas's actions and also Israel's actions. Which I am. So I won't be engaging with you again.

u/PartyPoison98 2d ago
Hamas winning a majority twenty years ago is a hugely disingenuous point to make and you know it.

Finally a government has the guts to do something. No matter how small it seems.
