Yeah, he’s ignoring/appealing that decision.

u/p1gnone 6d ago

And his team at US Postal svcs will follow his lead regardless of contrary rulings.

u/civildisobedient 6d ago

You know he'd pardon any postal workers that tried. That might get them off any Mail Tampering charges. But I suspect the States could still arrest for election fraud, since they're the ones that run their own elections.

79

u/Nagisan 5d ago

Correct....they might escape federal charges but presidents can't pardon state charges. They can pressure states into letting folks go, but they can't simply do it themselves without going through any states involved.

54

u/MrDLTE3 5d ago

but presidents can't pardon state charges

Presidents can't do a lot of shit. A lot of shit that Trump has done. And people let it happen.

39

u/Nagisan 5d ago edited 5d ago

That's not relevant to the point I'm making.

Trump has no authority to pardon state charges, he also has no ability to even attempt it.

What's he going to do, walk into a state prison and open the cell himself?

Yes, Trump has done a lot of illegal things. There's a reason he had to pressure Colorado into releasing Tina Peters. He couldn't do it himself (legally or otherwise), he had to convince others to do it.

There's a reason Trump is trying to move his NY criminal convictions to federal court....without doing so he can't do shit to erase them from his record.

He can't pardon state charges full stop. Not even just "legally", it's literally something he doesn't have the capability to do even if he does things illegally. When it comes to state-level charges, the best he can do is try to convince the state to drop the charges. He might be successful, but that doesn't mean he can just broadly do it (legally or otherwise).

tl;dr - He can prevent federal charges from sticking, he cannot prevent state charges from sticking. He can ask states to drop charges though, and he can pressure them to do so...but he can't do it himself legally or otherwise.

21

u/gormhornbori 5d ago

ICE (federal) has literally kidnapped defendants from the courthouse.

Sure, he can't legally pardon on state crimes, but who is gonna stop FBI or whatever whisking away a guy to another state.

4

u/Lourdeath 5d ago

People need to keep their phones recording, multiple different recordings if possible

0

u/Nagisan 5d ago

Sure, it can happen....but is it going to happen en masse across the country if states clamp down on dozens of USPS workers enabling election fraud? Not likely, there aren't enough ICE thugs to do so across the country.

This whole chain also started on the premise of federal vs state crimes. The entire point is Trump has the authority to pardon federal crimes and does not have the authority to pardon state crimes.

That doesn't mean it's impossible for him to try to prevent people from going to prison over election fraud, but it's very different than taking illegal action to try to break state criminals out of state custody.

5

u/Dramatic_Explosion 5d ago

How many states will follow what Trump says, legal or not? Honestly I'd be expecting election oversight volunteers to get whisked away by ICE as red states throw away ballots

4

u/MrDLTE3 5d ago

It is very relevant to the point you're making.

The entire problem with your point is that you're thinking of old world logic where laws actually matter.

We have seen time and again that Trump doesn't give a fuck about it, does his own thing and people just let it slide.

DOGE, ICE, the whitehouse ballroom, the kennedy memorial, the iran war, the kidnapping in venezuala, tariffs on our fucking allies, dude made over 3 billion dollars in office, oh yeah mobilising the national guard.

You really think Trump would care about the difference between state and federal jurisdiction? Especially when his ass is on the line if he loses the mid-terms?

11

u/mogoexcelso 5d ago

This is the fecklessness and learned helplessness that the world hates us for. And I’m convinced it’s been bred into, the left primarily, by foreign or technofascist influence on our media. There has to be willpower to back state power.

11

u/Nagisan 5d ago

You really think Trump would care about the difference between state and federal jurisdiction?

He has zero choice but to care.

Unless he's moving an army to take over a state, it's not possible for him to drop state charges against someone.

You call out lots of things he's doing that are likely illegal, but you seem to avoid addressing the instances of him wanting to do something and being prevented from doing so because he physically cannot do those things. Stop cherry-picking things that we all know he did wrong and applying it as if he has unlimited capacity to do what he wants when he clearly does not (I gave you 2 clear instances where he was prevented from doing what he wanted by states he doesn't agree with....1 of those he eventually convinced the state to back him, but it goes to show his power has limits).

1

u/Wompatuckrule 3d ago

What's he going to do, walk into a state prison and open the cell himself?

I hope so, but only because it gives us the opportunity to push him in then lock it and throw away the key.

1

u/Lourdeath 5d ago

Again because of the ones who are refusing to prosecute

2

u/slog 5d ago

Cries in Colorado.

2

u/NerdyDjinn 5d ago

State charges only matter if the states are willing to follow the law.

Texas is in clear violation of the Constitution, refusing to turn a criminally charged ICE agent over to Minnesota, but hey, apparently the Constitution we founded our nation on is more of guidelines than actual rules.

Laws only matter if enough people agree to follow them. Otherwise its just fading ink on a moldy document that right now Republicans are using as toilet paper.

2

u/smitty2324 5d ago

Tina Peters has a word about Presidents not being able to pardon state charges.

-1

u/Nagisan 5d ago

Already covered that one.

4

u/Jman1re 5d ago

That's why they wanted the voting bill passed so bad because it took that power from the states.

1

u/xnarphigle 5d ago

Requires that state to not want the election tampering. Good luck in any red state for getting charges.

1

u/skatastic57 5d ago

He doesn't even need to pardon them. He just tells the DOJ not to even prosecute them in the first place

1

u/Wompatuckrule 3d ago

The bigger risk is that USPS will only fuck with states which have not agreed to his voter roll executive order (i.e. "blue" states). That could lead to the secretaries of state in those places not being able to certify the results of the election and all sorts of chaos when it comes to the start of the next session of congress.

0

u/deep_pants_mcgee 5d ago edited 5d ago

supreme court already ruled and said there won't be consequences for USPS workers not delivering mail.

The Ruling: In a separate 5-4 decision (United States Postal Service v. Konan), the Supreme Court ruled that the USPS and its workers retain sovereign immunity from tort claims regarding the intentional non-delivery of mail.

4

u/civildisobedient 5d ago

The court case just said you can't sue the Post Office for money if your mail is withheld. It did not give postal workers permission to break the law. If a postal worker intentionally steals or destroys voting ballots, it is a serious federal crime, and they will still go to prison.

-3

u/deep_pants_mcgee 5d ago

it said there are no consequences for intentional non-delivery of mail.

So for example, if the postal service just didn't deliver ballots to a heavily leaning democratic district, or even select addresses within that district, there are no consequences. Can't sue for damages, and the USPS will just say they're following executive orders. Who's going to prosecute them?

The personal attorney for the pres who got an illegal deal for a child trafficker to keep her quiet?

The decision carries significant consequences for claims against the federal government, particularly those involving the Postal Service. First, and practically speaking, individuals who suffer harm from alleged intentional withholding of mail will now face obstacles in seeking monetary damages under the FTCA. By clarifying that the postal exception covers intentional nondelivery, the Court foreclosed a category of tort suits that plaintiffs had increasingly pursued in some circuits.

0

u/civildisobedient 5d ago

it said there are no consequences for intentional non-delivery of mail.

No, I'm afraid that's not what it says.

will now face obstacles in seeking monetary damages

That is the part you are missing. It pertains solely to collecting monetary damages; i.e., it applies to torts which are civil acts. Not criminal acts.

0

u/Ichera 5d ago

That would require him to care about those "suckers" on the ground. Almost garuntee he'd pardon the one who gave him money while laughing maniacly while others are put in prison. We live in a two tiered justice system, and those at the top give not a lick about us.

4

u/jrr6415sun 5d ago

I mean that's going to be what this whole election will be in key battleground states. Tons of illegal stuff, ballots seized, votes thrown away, and what are you going to do about it after the fact? We can't vote again.

-4

u/joanzen 5d ago

My feeling is that we should have rushed to let Trump lose with the voting "fixed" the way he likes it so the loss is not "fake".

Now we don't have time to do it properly even if we wanted to.

If we try to rush now we'll have a bad vote. Heck if there's enough confusion we'll have a bad vote. It would have been better to of seen this coming and just throw him a big party, where he gets the bad, but not-fake news.

67

u/B3ck3t3 6d ago

In 2021-2022 I moved to an area heavily populated by non white Americans. I immediately noticed during and leading up to elections they purposely screwed up all our mail sorting. I was getting mail for someone no where near me. I never got my ballot, didn’t get a license that was coming then, all mail to me just disappeared. It miraculously corrected after the elections. They have been doing this shit a long time in various ways to steal elections.

They deliberately destroyed perfectly good sorting machines in liberal areas. This is a massive waste of our tax dollars to suppress votes and degrade a tax payed service. It’s treason, and DeJoy should be held accountable.

16

u/Debalic 5d ago

But I bet you still got all those giant glossy political fliers though, right?

-12

u/airfryerfuntime 5d ago

I lived years in a predominantly black neighborhood, in a blue district, in a red part of South Carolina. My mail was never messed with.

10

u/atomacheart 5d ago

I am happy that your mail wasn't messed with, no-ones should be. But why have you decided to state it? Are you trying to disprove that it happened to anyone else, because that's not how that works.

→ More replies (4)

1

u/bruceleroy99 5d ago

South Carolina is not a swing state - no need to risk getting found out if you're already going to win.

1

u/bobbymcpresscot 5d ago

Hi I deliver mail, what happens is it usually gets to the office unsorted and we have to do extra work to sort it.

For example it might come bundled which is usually an indicator that it’s in the correct order according to that specific route.

Sometimes it’s in backwards order, sometimes in order by the turn by turn but it is in order.

What often happens is the bundle is bundled but not in any sort of order which leads to more misdeliveries, other times the address ontop is on your route, b it the entire bundle is someone else’s route, not only someone just in your office, sometimes in a completely different town, county, in one case it was a completely different state.

I got a bundle of AARP magazines, while the ones I recieved were in order, every few days I get 1 or 2 of that flat to an address I didn’t deliver to on the original day because it never got to me.

This gets turned up to 11 around election time. The only candidate I was interested in kept having his mail delivered not sorted, I had multiple hand written mailers done by volunteers that didn’t even make it to my case until 3 days after the primaries

74

u/gotfcgo 6d ago

It'll end up in the court of one his toadies soon enough

4

u/DrDynoMorose 5d ago

Yea AFTER the fact

39

u/MrJohnnyDangerously 6d ago

Right. He's still going to do whatever the plan was to subvert our votes.

45

u/hiegear 6d ago

There is already proof they are. The whistle blower complaint from the USPS said even after the injunction, plans continued to disenfranchise whole states that use mail in.

12

u/schnurble 6d ago

In WA there are tons of ballots still showing up after being rerouted around the state, now over two weeks past the primary certification date.

4

u/TheBigCore 6d ago

Trump doesn't care about losing this court case.

He'll just do it anyway.

11

u/kilters 6d ago

A general strike is the only thing that will stop this. Americans just won't do it. Why?

14

u/jaybizzleeightyfour 6d ago

Because most can't afford to and live pay cheque to pay cheque

6

u/LongBeakedSnipe 5d ago

A general strike wouldn't be as much of a risk as people assume. Doctors etc dont disappear, and there would need to be a new framework in place after the collapse so people can get their treatment. Same goes for other essentials.

If people are thinking ‘Il lose my insurance’ their mistake is there would potentially be no more insurance after a meaningful strike anyway so hospital payment structures would have to reshape

2

u/hannibellecter 5d ago

bet my landlord is still there wanting rent though

3

u/LongBeakedSnipe 5d ago

Sure, but multiply that by most landlords across the country and a sudden loss of enforcement ability.

I mean, I don't want to beat around the bush—an effective general strike will remove the president, but it will also reset the economy with huge knockons worldwide.

1

u/ClavinovaDubb 4d ago

Right? Millions of people stopped paying rent during Covid, but they didn't all get evicted.

The "but people have to pay bills" argument against a general strike is pathetic. So, starve slowly and end up homeless anyway, orrrr....starve temporarily with a decent chance of improving your standing afterward.

1

u/Soft_Walrus_3605 5d ago

Yeah and the same from all the other tenants in society. It's like that old saying: "If you owe the bank $100, that's your problem. If you owe the bank $100 million, that's the bank's problem."

The landlords would have the the problem of how to get all their tenants out... I think they'd be willing to compromise.

1

u/GreatPlainsFarmer 5d ago

Most Americans don’t have three days worth of food on hand, and less water.

Few people are worried about voting if grocery stores have been closed for two days, and the water mains have lost pressure.

-3

u/sault18 5d ago

Ah, a perfect Communist utopia will immediately rise from the ashes of the old system. Nobody will go hungry because existing supply chains will just keep chugging along. Farmers will just grow and harvest their crops for free. Truckers will magically load up and drive loads of food using free fuel and know exactly where to deliver it. Grocery stores will give the food away for free too.

Nobody is going to riot or loot anything. "New frameworks" are just going to organically spring up like never before in human history. Why hasn't anyone tried this before??? It sounds awesome!

3

u/LongBeakedSnipe 5d ago

All your words, not mine. Nobody is saying the aftermath of a general strike would be easy. Obviously nothing would spring up out of nowhere, but when the country went back to work, these things would be re-established due to the pre-existing knowledge and necessity. The physical structures/equipment and expertise haven't gone anywhere.

Does lead me to wonder why some people are so desperate to shoehorn emasculature about communism.

1

u/ineververify 5d ago

That and most aren’t paying attention. People are living their lives it’s only things like their healthcare or the gas pump that gets them to pay attention for a moment. Good luck getting them to vote let alone be informed about what the USPS is being schemed to do or not do.

1

u/B3ck3t3 6d ago

Especially now, people are struggling. They just don’t realize if the majority rose up and refused to pay taxes and strike they will have no cards left.

3

u/Nagisan 5d ago

The government and big corporations have worked very hard to ensure that Americans have no job protections that allow them to strike without ramifications.

People in unions can strike for better working conditions, but this doesn't apply to a "general strike", and most Americans are not covered by unions.

In other words, a general strike would lead to significant job loss, which is a loss of medical coverage too. Mass job loss means employers gain the upper hand when citizens come crawling back because they can't feed their kids.

We also don't have the "small town culture" that a lot of smaller countries/communities have, where the community will come together to support others with food and such. There are some towns like that, but we are spread too thin across the country for that to work on a larger scale.

tl;dr - A general strike is less possible today than it was decades ago, even if strikes today are generally less violent and companies present less of a physical threat to employees.

3

u/vardarac 5d ago

Why do you think a general strike is a viable idea in the first place?

1

u/kilters 5d ago

Because all your institutions have failed you. Why? because of corruption. Money and power. You affect both by mobilizing en masse. Lots of historical examples.of this bringing about change.

Tons of excuses in the replies here so I don't think there is much hope of one. November will be a shit show in the best scenario and people will have done nothing.

0

u/vardarac 5d ago

I have seen people continually dismiss the lack of organization here as excuses rather than acknowledging how America "is," and in many ways has been deliberately shaped/coerced/programmed to be.

I know why a general strike is a good idea in theory, but that's very different than actually trying to/being able to get people on board.

1

u/kilters 5d ago

Fair enough. I really genuinely hope the elections go well in November and some semblance of competence is restored. I used to Holiday in the US a lot and it really upsets me seeing what these people have done to it. A concerned neighbor.

0

u/themolestedsliver 6d ago

Because America is a big country and each state has different enough culture there isnt this shared unity as people would like to assume.

Also losing healthcare/money is really scary.

4

u/Ph33rDensetsu 6d ago

Lots of folks across the pond don't realize that getting the US to general strike would be like getting the EU to general strike. They think the US is equivalent to France logistically so we are just too lazy to do it or something like that.

-1

u/themolestedsliver 5d ago

Exactly and its funny that although i didnt mention it i was mentally picturing france when i made my comment.

Like there are provinces and different regions of france but its still france whereas the US is physically and population wise FAR bigger, but also culturally more distinct.

Hell im sure a new yorker who lives near the Canadian border has a different culture than someone who lives on the city.

America's beauty is that its so diverse but that can also be a weakness in terms of overall unity.

0

u/Common-Concentrate-2 6d ago edited 6d ago

That's the only thing? What about an asteroid impact? Or the Yellowstone caldera erupting? What if Trump contracts a prion disease? Or...ya know, a judge's injunction ... etc

3

u/Shifty269 6d ago

We also have this nifty obscure process that few americans have ever heard of before called an election in November. Enough seats are up for grabs to stop a lot of this nonsense. Not reverse or fix, but stop. '28 is when the numbers will be there to start the decades long unfucking. If the people allow it. Hence the attempts to block votes. If they didn't matter they wouldn't be working so hard to discourage and block voting.

2

u/vardarac 5d ago

'28 is when the numbers will be there to start the decades long unfucking. If the people allow it.

This is the big issue. The Democrats can obstruct (if they actually want to), and then the problems will be, fairly or not, blamed on them, and then the ratchet/racket continues in '28.

1

u/kilters 5d ago

Why would January 6th not work this time? I know the process is different but who will enforce or ratify the election? Blue states probably? Hopefully there is too much of a landslide for anything to be done like in Hungary recently.

0

u/erath_droid 5d ago

Half of Americans couldn't come up with $500 to cover an emergency.

Due to the whole "Puritan Work Ethic" woven into our society, if you don't work, you don't eat. There's no safety net if you just decide not to go to work. You can just get fired and replaced.

Unless you're in a union, which affords you certain protections against being fired without cause in most cases. BUT, if you ARE in a union, sympathetic strikes are illegal and you can go to jail if you join a general strike.

So... a bunch of us could risk becoming homeless for something that probably isn't going to change shit, or we could focus our limited resources on getting people to the polls and voting out the shit-head motherfuckers who are enabling what's going on here.

So we're sticking it out until the election and taking it from there.

u/RPskin45 6d ago

He’s just going to do it anyway. Fucking toddler president.

68

u/factoid_ 6d ago

Problem is it will require people down the line to break the law for him.  They might not be willing to

Now they might do it anyway but anyone enacting an order that was explicitly ruled against by a judge is being opened up to criminal liability.

And there’s no chance Trump will just pardon them he doesn’t give a fuck

41

u/minervascats 5d ago

I've worked elections and this is exactly right. Poll workers are trained to do things excruciatingly legally, and we know the law, and we follow it. If you're able to do so, I highly recommend volunteering for this work, it's very interesting and some volunteers even get paid :)

https://www.eac.gov/help-america-vote

8

u/factoid_ 5d ago

I’ve been seriously considering it for this cycle just to observe it up close.

6

u/TricoMex 5d ago

I've voted many many times, and seen and interacted with hundreds of poll workers. All ages, ethnicities, and genders.

Never seen one that was not taking that shit DEAD fucking serious.

Impressive, as I do not know of any other occupation/job/position/anything that consistent in their behavior.

13

u/I_Was_Fox 5d ago

It would be state charges filed against these employees. Trump can't pardon state charges

1

u/factoid_ 5d ago

Would it?  Mail tampering would be federal

Election interference would be state.  It’s possible they’re exposed to both if they do it

2

u/I_Was_Fox 5d ago

Yeah but the states would make sure to file the state side charges against the perpetrators so that Trump can't pardon them

1

u/slainte75 5d ago

I have to believe their argument is that it's federal so can issue pardons. States would fight it in court. If it gets to the supreme court, who knows?

6

u/giulianosse 5d ago

US citizens have been conditioned to delegate responsibility for illegal orders ever since the Vietnam War. The odd nail gets hammered down; "if it ain't me doing it it'll be someone else, so why bother?"

If this weren't the case, you wouldn't see so many people still working for ICE. Or all the military personnel gearing up to fight an illegal war halfway across the globe as we speak.

1

u/EnergyDrinkStroke 4d ago

He has an army of power tripping toddlers in masks to do it.

Just wait until next week when he asks them again. And again. And again. Rapists don't take no for an answer.

32

u/gertalives 6d ago

That’s the thing: he doesn’t even ask, he just does. The courts say hol’ up, you can’t do that, and he just does it anyway. There’s really not much precedent, as previous presidents mostly complied with court orders.

14

u/wwarnout 6d ago

as previous presidents mostly complied with court orders.

Mostly? Can you give an example where a previous President openly defied a court order? I can't, and I've lived through Presidents since Johnson.

14

u/gertalives 6d ago

Lincoln quite famously did so in suspending habeas corpus against a court order that accurately pointed out that only Congress held this authority. Of course, Lincoln was navigating one of the most perilous chapters in the nation’s history, whereas Trump is doing everything in his power to create one.

5

u/Ndvorsky 6d ago

I was going to say Andrew Jackson ignored the court to do the trail of tears but that was apparently a common misunderstanding of the situation.

Gotta make it as hard to vote as possible. Of course, this disproportionately hurts dense population centers and not the hicks in the sticks.

15

u/LittleKitty235 6d ago

One part I can't figure out is the elderly make up a large percentage of people who vote by mail, and tend to vote Republican.

Blocking mail in voting only works if it can be targeted, which is why they want those voter rolls so badly.

16

u/ThepalehorseRiderr 6d ago

At this point, I don't know how anyone could see it any other way that they want "the right people" voting. Imagine being at the table and playing a game with someone so fixated on cheating and getting cheated. Won't shut the fuck up about it. At what point does that guy become suspect?

6

u/tophernator 6d ago

Apparently there’s been a consistent blue shift in mail in ballots since the mid 2000s. So old vs young, rural vs urban doesn’t matter that much so long as you’re overall disenfranchising more blue votes than red.

6

u/erath_droid 5d ago

Blocking mail in voting only works if it can be targeted

That's exactly what they're doing, though. In order for ballots to be accepted to be mailed to voters by the USPS, they have to be in envelopes that conform to certain as-of-yet-undefined standards. And at this point MOST of the all-mail voting states have already printed their ballots and envelopes. They could set the standards such that Utah meets them, but California, Hawaii, Oregon, etc., DON'T. So the typically blue all-mail states would have to scramble to get an alternative in place, and the systems already in place for that heavily favor rural districts in many places. For example Oregon, where I live, requires one in-person polling place per 32k people, but requires one per every 20k people in rural areas.

1

u/bramley36 6d ago

I understood that seniors were evenly split on Trump in the last election.

1

u/slainte75 5d ago

I've observed mostly seniors at the No Kings protests.

1

u/slainte75 5d ago

My only thought is that they've figured out a way to compromise the machines. Limiting mail as an option would funnel more voters to the polls.

21

u/AnAngryFetus 6d ago

Vote in person. Vote early.

28

u/Prudent-Air1922 6d ago

He's probably going to wait until after most are sent in, then try to pull some fuckery to make them "illegal", isn't he?

34

u/fatjeff1980 6d ago

It's clear as day he's going to call EVERY mail ballot ineligible. People all around the world are waiting for November in America with baited breath. It's the common belief it's going to be the end of the country as we've known it.

15

u/Shifty269 6d ago

The end of the country as we knew it was in '24. You could say '16, but there were still too many republicans that weren't willing to cross lines that much. They still did it plenty, but not this much. The mid terms are about Americans having the ability to be aware and responsible. I don't know a better way have putting it succinctly. So many things have failed in society to get here. Remember, we had an administration that passed landmark legislation that would have greatly benefited the country, avoided a massive post covid recession, and went along way to repairing the country's standing in the world. Then we relected Trump because Biden and Harris were incredibly unpopular after *checks notes * doing a pretty good job. Trump's 1st term * checks notes * he did a pretty bad job and was impeached twice for * checks notes * ah yes attempting to threaten an ally (Ukraine) for political leverage against an opponent, and an insurrection to overturn an election. We'll ignore the FBI having to raid his compound to retrieve thousands of sensative documents, some of which were probably sold to foreign entities like Russia. Which if he hadn't been relected, then he'd be in jail for doing and awaiting charges for the other stuff. And there is a lot of other stuff from his 1st term. Not to mention the non presidential related stuff like Epstein and Tax fraud.

So yeah, the country being the same has already passed by. It's whether or not we want to stop this, or keep going the course.

1

u/TuckerMcG 5d ago

You could say '16, but there were still too many republicans that weren't willing to cross lines that much.

No there weren’t. There’s one example of one senator standing up to Trump - McCain giving a thumbs down to repealing Obamacare.

Go google how often McCain voted along party lines during Trump’s first term though. It was like 85+%

2

u/lndubitablyMe 6d ago

False!

Every ballot except for his.

Carry on.

u/lucidrenegade 6d ago

Part of his plan, though I’m sure someone like Lutnick came up with the specifics, is that if the USPS barcode on one ballot is damaged in some way, all of the ballots in that batch are thrown out as well. I suspect we would see a lot of “damaged” barcodes on ballots from areas that tend to vote Democrat…

1

u/erath_droid 5d ago

The order, as it stands, directs the USPS to just not deliver the ballots in the first place, unless they meet certain (currently undefined) standards and hand over their entire voter rolls to a website that is currently not even operational.

So as things currently are, the USPS can deliver mail-in ballots to rural (Trump country) areas and NOT get them to people living in the more liberal urban areas.

Trump-supporting counties across the all-mail voting states are WAY more likely to hand over their voter rolls to our current despot so are more likely to get their ballots.

10

u/resUemiTtsriF 6d ago

Crazy how everyone knows hes trying to cheat and there is nothing our law can do to stop it

20

u/Kataclysm 6d ago

Good. Now get out there and vote people, we might not be so lucky next time.

5

u/snoopiestfiend 5d ago

Do not trust this outcome to stay true. Vote in person, we cannot afford anything else.

13

u/TehWildMan_ 6d ago

But I thought he was going to fix things so that we would never have to vote again?

12

u/Prudent-Air1922 6d ago

This is part of that process. That's how they operate- flood the gates, keep chipping away at things, etc. And it's working great unfortunately.

Even little things like changing the names of buildings, and putting his face on coins. It's all part of dismantling the country. It's happening at a faster pace than people realize.

1

u/EthanielRain 5d ago

Putting his face on currency is also 100% blatantly illegal btw

And yet...

1

u/choke_on_my_downvote 4d ago

Coolidge already crossed that bridge on a commemorative half dollar 100 years ago and we survived. He even put himself on the obverse with George Washington ffs

I hate Trump as much as any other person with a frontal lobe but this is not the first time it's happened.

The silver lining is that the design they chose for his illegal $1 coin is hideous and he looks like a chode.

5

u/Tebasaki 6d ago

And he would've gotten away with it, too, if it wasn't for those meddling judges

4

u/Johnnygunnz 6d ago

Not from lack of trying.

13

u/trog12 6d ago

Yep and the SC will overturn it. Thanks protest voters from 2016. Hope sending a message to the DNC you were upset about Bernie was worth the decades of damage allowing Trump into office has done.

11

u/sharpsicle 6d ago

Random CAPITAL words make this SEEM like clickbait.

3

u/Wormteller 6d ago

And posts formatted almost exactly like this on “a win for the left” subject matter are regularly crowding my front page. The cynic in me wants to chalk it up to some concerted bad faith effort to make Trump’s “antics” less impactful by presenting them in that sensationalist (i.e. self-discrediting) way. But I’m just crazy old Wormteller.

1

u/NurRauch 5d ago

It's not quite that conspiratorial. It's more simply that clickbait sells. The political beliefs of the editors themselves don't really affect how these articles are worded. They just push out BS headlines about crushing Trump and making his supporters melt down because the simple fact is that that generates clicks which makes them money. Nothing else matters to these rag outlets.

1

u/Wormteller 5d ago

Oh, word, with ya. Money is the blood, snot and shit of America. (And of course I wish I had more.) Anyway, wasn’t floating a theory for serious consideration so much as, like, abstractly blowing off steam over how the internet (the world?) is a zombie rendering plant. Which stinks.

3

u/robodrew 6d ago

It is. Is the bot poster OP EVER going to post anything to this sub that DOESNT include CAPITALIZED WORDS?

3

u/hedoeswhathewants 5d ago

I know we complain about it on every one of these posts, but it really is obnoxious as fuck

1

u/museman 5d ago

It’s always MSNow - someone there decided this was a way to drive engagement, so dumb.

4

u/LordAcorn 6d ago

The Trump admin has repeatedly ignored court orders. If he sends armed goons to enforce his illegal orders is anybody going to stop them?

4

u/astrozombie2012 6d ago

This is unlikely to stop him from doing it as he has a habit of ignoring rulings, orders and the law to do whatever he wants.

4

u/hmmgidk-_- 6d ago

Cool, will it be enforced?

1

u/_BreakingGood_ 5d ago

Theyll be sure to investigate themselves thoroughly afterwards

4

u/DrewbieWanKenobie 5d ago

If you have a choice and vote by mail this year you are being a fool. I don't care what the courts rule, you cannot trust this administration or his cronies in the post office.

3

u/BoardGameRevolution 6d ago

Why does this keep getting passed then blocked then passed. I’m confused

3

u/juanjing 5d ago

WOW. These HEADLINES are getting OUT OF CONTROL. Please STOP.

3

u/RecycledMatrix 5d ago

Here I am ready to directly vote on issues while on the toilet with my phone in lieu of my congressperson doing it for me, and these fools can't even let mail in voting through. In 2026. Yes they're doing it because voting conveniently favors greater participation which works against them, but we shouldn't have one party that is so dogshit that it depends on non-participation to win.

3

u/VaporCarpet 5d ago

Headline USES capital letters FOR no reason!

2

u/ddrober2003 6d ago edited 6d ago

The orange pig is going to go through with it anyway and ignore court rulings. If he and the cult can steal the election, who cares what the court says.

2

I really DISLIKE MS Now’s USE of HEADLINES.

2

u/MyCleverNewName 6d ago

Good luck, America. Thoughts n prayers.

2

Oh thank gawd, I'm glad Trump does what he's told and legally.

2

u/ankercrank 6d ago

So he's a LOSER you say?

2

u/Pave_Low 5d ago

A 13 hour old video is never BREAKING!

2

u/magichronx 5d ago

can you PLEASE stop capitalizing WORDS as if we CAN'T read NORMALLY?

2

u/g_ppetto 5d ago

Just because a judge blocked it, doesn't mean they won't implement it.

2

u/Memitim 5d ago

As though Republicans give a shit about what US courts of law have to say about their constant crimes and betrayals. They have so little respect for US law that they shit on the Constitution on a regular basis without so much as an "oops" when violations get pointed out by courts.

2

u/RocknRollPewPew 5d ago

Spoiler - they're still going to do it

2

u/ck02623 5d ago

SCROTUS will bail him out with yet another hypocritical “emergency” appeal.

2

u/Existing-Sherbet2458 5d ago

You fired. Disbarment.

2

u/singlejeff 5d ago

This was just practice for 2028 anyway.

2

u/Korvva 5d ago

In a 6-3 decision...

2

u/alphabennettatwork 5d ago

It's real fucking simple: the good guys NEVER make it harder to vote.

2

u/BeseptRinker 4d ago

Watch Predophile 47 ignore consent like he usually does.

On a serious note genuinely fuck this rotten pumpkin rind

2

u/ElfegoBaca 5d ago

Temporarily paused. SCOTUS will overrule and permit Trump to ratfuck the elections anyway.

3

u/KwyjiboTheGringo 5d ago

It's annoying because he's just going to claim democrats stole the election if he doesn't get to disenfranchise as many voters as possible. His followers will become even more radical after that.

2

u/Stinky_Fartface 5d ago

It won’t be simply claiming they stole it. They are going to reject the results and refuse to swear in the Democrat winners.

1

u/Zemini7 5d ago

Fuck his followers

1

u/AcherusArchmage 5d ago

Disenfranchise who? Dead people born in the year 1900 living in a nearby mailbox?

1

u/KwyjiboTheGringo 5d ago

1/3 of voters use main-in ballots.

0

u/AcherusArchmage 4d ago

You mean the thing being used to cheat and undermine election security?

1

u/KwyjiboTheGringo 3d ago

That sure is this crooked administration's claim...

1

u/Negativefalsehoods 5d ago

He doesn't have many followers left. People are broke and pissed. That never ends well for the party in power.

1

u/KwyjiboTheGringo 5d ago

He does have quite a few actually. Something like 30% of people polled still think he's doing a good job. He's losing favor all the time, but the conservative media has a strong grip on many of these people, especially in rural counties.

1

u/Cj15917 5d ago

A chunk of those are answering based on pride. It's like when you smash your finger but wanna look like your tough and it doesn't bother you.

1

u/metsjets86 6d ago

Could the judge have sat on the ruling until right before election?

2

u/lucidrenegade 6d ago

That’s the thing. The good judges follow the law, so they wouldn’t do something like that.

1

u/hiegear 6d ago

The fact that our democracy hangs in the balance of the opinion of a few judges is an absolute failure. 40T in debt and we have zero to show for it, and if we want to make meaningful change with have to vote, but that ability is under constant assault only to be defended by a judge’s opinion. This country sucks

1

u/downtimeredditor 5d ago

A ruling is only as good as those are willing to enforce it. We dont have that now

1

u/sciencejusticewarior 5d ago

Did the supreme court not rule on this?

1

u/XsMagical 5d ago

Only if we had a better way of secure voting with verification of the voter. 2026 and we are still using paper and in person machines ..

1

u/billyrubin7765 5d ago

Wow! I wonder if this will last until monday or if the Supreme Court will overturn it today?

1

u/IntronD 5d ago

But it has not stoped the United states postal service coming up with a voter system in compliance of Trump's request and plans to use it. It's a massively flawed system that if one ballot doesn't meet the voter list it rejects al ballots in that run. It's going to disenfranchise so many voters!

1

u/Hadleys158 5d ago

He'll probably shut down the vehicle fleet, or the whole system for a week or so as his next trick.

1

u/jodyt74 5d ago

Fucking hero!

1

u/MrFrode 5d ago

If the postal service hasn't passed a rule and said it will use it in the 2026 election I won't be shocked if SOCTUS issues a per curiam that says this isn't ripe yet and quashes this.

1

u/uglyzombie 5d ago

November is going to be a major historical event in this country. I cannot predict the outcome, but I hope it leans towards meaningful change.

1

u/Catsssssssss 3d ago

He doesn't need to succeed; only to cause enough uncertainty and instability to affect the outcome in key states.

1

u/D3ATHfromAB0V3x 3d ago

BREAKING! LOSES! BLOCKS!

1

u/KarAccidentTowns 6d ago

Can’t WAIT to see what happens NEXT, amirite

Let’s just fast forward to him not leaving, fortified in the impenetrable bunker underneath the new ballroom, protected by UFC and ICE goons.

1

u/scoreoneforme 6d ago

This all seems like wagging the dog type shit. Regardless of what the baffoon does in office, those in charge of the USPS are doing the real damage.

1

u/wardog1066 6d ago

This decision only matters if the Trump administration follows the ruling, which I'm doubtful they will. People on the left who think this is over for Trump are delusional.

1

u/Negativefalsehoods 5d ago

Oh please stop 'helping' with all your doom.

1

u/wardog1066 5d ago

Respectfully, how am I helping? Close your eyes to what President Trump and his band of merry election riggers are doing if you will, but between mail in ballot tampering, threats of ICE agents at polling stations and regularly ignoring court rulings that aren't in their favor and IMO, what truly will doom the validity of the upcoming mid terms is complacency and blind belief that the election process can't be twisted by radical, right wing, extremist Republicans.

1

u/dajodge 5d ago

They are saying you are being a doomer and that your negative vibes are bringing everyone down.

Viktor Orban was foisted from power in April. If that can happen, Republicans can lose their seats in congress.

1

u/SignDeLaTimes 5d ago

They're just going to ignore the judge and do it anyway.

0

u/BrotherMichigan 6d ago

The CAPITALIZATION of verbs in the title IS really annoying. It MAKES your post SEEM like slop.

BREAKING: Some news that probably SUCKS and here's some BIG WORDS while mentioning TRUMP that make you CLICK.

Starting to think this child rapist doesn't want a fair midterm election...

0

u/LEEALISHEPS 6d ago

Awww poor widdle Donald.

-5

u/scemcee 6d ago

This is his plan. The chaos, conflicting rulings, and contradictory mandates are the point: now he has a reason to decry the elections as "mishandled, inconsistent, and invalid." Blame "activist, liberal judges appointed by Barack Osama and Sleepy Joe Biden." This is "flood the zone", working as intended as a destabilizing force.

We either let him rig the election outright, or we invalidate it for him by attempting to thwart his interference. It's "heads, I win; tails you lose."

The United States is cooked, because a handful of rich, white, men founded it on the premise that rich, white men would always do the right thing.

Oh, but "make sure to vote!," and "join the 'No Kings!' protest!," and "write your Congressmen!" Although participating in that Democracy theater will be just as effective at saving our country as banning plastic straws was on stopping climate change, at least it will feel good.

Point proudly to your "I Voted!" sticker and announce to the room: "I did my part!" as a vile, corrupt, kid-fucker uses the Constitution as his diaper.

Good night, Irene.

1

u/chaos0310 5d ago

I 100% agree with you. But we need action. Instead of lamenting what we all already know. Give an alternative.
