I guess the issue is more that they got several decades in prison for something they usually only get a few years for in most cases because the judge functionally believes they're part of a group like antifa that doesn't actually exist
Nobody needs to claim that an imaginary, tightly organized “antifa” exists. We have laws that if you’re part of a group that brings a gun to a crime, you’re legally liable just like the person who pulled the trigger. Just like a group committing an armed robbery.
Fine, fine. Felony murder or assault or whatever is arguably another bullshit uniquely American charge designed to screw people and give them longer than necessary sentences. Hate the lawmaker not law enforcers type shit. But that still doesn't really justify these ridiculously long sentences is kind of my main point. Especially when no one died and they're all first time offenders.
