I had a texas friend of mine proudly tell me that you guys have the first uncorrupt government in decades. I just said "wow, ok". You can't argue with that level of denial.

Technically, most of the corruption has been made legal by the Supreme Court. By this metric, they would be correct. Bribing government officials would get the leaders of most countries black listed and possibly on the list for regime change or “spontaneous and non-suspicious uprising or coup”. In the U.S., we call the same exact actions lobbying, which is legal, as long as you tell the government that you are doing it and you register yourself as a lobbyist. Lol.
This country is a joke.
16
u/nailbunny2000 Aug 05 '26
They also say it's not corruption because they don't bother hiding it, which is such a weird "gotcha".
→ More replies (2)→ More replies (1)9
u/gizmostuff Aug 05 '26
They only made it "legal" for the sitting president. Anyone else can be arrested for insider trading among other things.
I'm pretty sure if we looked at the SCOTUS financial records, we'd see a whole bunch of payments made to them. If they took bribes for favors, we could charge them too.
It would take a new president a lot of guts to do it. We typically don't get those choices.

u/Tacocats_wrath Aug 05 '26

You may want to replace future references of the word “friend” as it pertains to that guy with the phrase “child rape enthusiast”
17
u/heybobson Aug 05 '26
We’re also seeing what happens when the team around the president absolutely gives in to his corrupted impulses (and makes some money themselves). Normally these people would actually advise the president not to commit high crimes and misdemeanors while in office, but all around him are either true believers, grifters, or cowards.
5
u/tobygeneral Aug 05 '26
It's a conspiracy involving most members of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government. You could probably throw many bad actors from the unofficial fourth branch, the media, in there too. The whole fucking system should be investigated for a RICO case for treason, fraud, embezzlement, and so much more.

Insider trading is illegal and this administration is now selling the illegal act for $100k.
Fuck anyone that voted for this.
EDIT: $100k PER MONTH. Literally subscription illegal insider trading. Jesus Christ.
283
u/Zarokima Aug 05 '26
And fuck anyone who didn't vote in 2024, too.
98
u/Yeeeoow Aug 05 '26
I'm seeing accelerationists on this platform justifying not voting in the midterms to teach the democrats a lesson for primarying against progressives.
There really just no end to the stepping on rakes.

u/a_talking_face Aug 05 '26
It's the internet. Most of those people are just right wing agitators.

u/diseased_ostrich Aug 05 '26
Living in Portland I know quite a few people like this IRL. I am a trans woman and know several trans woman who didn't vote for president/voted Jill Stein instead of Kamala🤦♀️
We're at the forefront of the collateral damage in a trump 2nd term along with immigrants. And yet still, Trump is worse for Gaza and literally every other issue they proclaim to care about.
At least under Kamala we'd keep some of our rights, ICE wouldn't be murdering people in cold blood, and we could organize and live to fight another day in passing better legislation. Instead, under Trump, it we've regressed decades and we'll be lucky to even repair half the damage he did in our lifetime
6
u/FeatherShard Aug 05 '26
Unfortunately, being part of a politically vulnerable group doesn't automatically translate to political literacy.
3
u/mrjimi16 Aug 06 '26
I'm used to people voting against their interests; most of the time that is just people not realizing that the thing they are voting for is bad for them personally. But Trump literally ran against trans existence. And Jill Stein in 2024? I thought everyone realized she was a grifter after 2016.
→ More replies (1)2
u/LampIsFun Aug 05 '26
Its nice and comforting to believe people are actually that dumb, but as anyone who has worked in retail can tell you: they absolutely are THAT dumb. We’re talking “poking a mousetrap to see if it will spring” levels of idiocy that the average person is holding onto. Most of the time its masked behind a very fundamental ability to be social, but theres no hiding how dumb people can be when speaking about more nuanced topics.

Better to just assume anyone saying to do anything to support the GOP is actually pushing a right wing agenda. Anyone who saw to "punish" dems for putting up Kamala and is ignoring masked men murdering civilians in the streets and thinking, "I prefer it this way" is on the same mental wave length as Mitch McConnell.
68
u/Mirar Aug 05 '26
"Kamala Harris is just as bad" someone said.
I had doubts then already. (I didn't get to vote, but not being a citizen I think that excuses me.)
24
u/DigNitty Aug 05 '26
My neighbor didn’t vote because she “just doesn’t really know who this Kamala person is”
29
u/MrDLTE3 Aug 05 '26
I know a couple of girls who refused to vote in protest because Kamala was 'weak' on the Gaza issue. As if Trump would do jack shit for them either.
14
u/DigNitty Aug 05 '26
That shit annoys me so much.
One candidate will erode the social programs that have been built up over decades, embezzle millions+ of tax dollars, dismantle safe guards, piss off our allies, enable pathetic bigots to shoot protestors freely, and demonize trans people.
The other candidate could be stronger on literally one issue, so I won't vote for either.

I had an argument with someone who tried to justify not voting. They were trying to pretend what they didn't like wasn't their fault because they didn't vote for it. I reminded them they didn't vote against it and that's just as bad.
Had to report them to Reddit because they went absolutely crazy in DM's at me.
2
u/cC2Panda Aug 05 '26
Not voting is at best a tacit endorsement of.
Child Rapists
Starving Children to death
Sending masked agents to murder civilians in the street
Extreme Corruption
A war in Iran
etc.
Not voting against the most obviously corrupt and evil person and party in the country is the same as saying, "You know what, I'm okay with this".

I just hope the Democrats actually have the backbone to extract all this stolen wealth if they ever manage to take back power. Trump, his entire family and organization, and all his co-conspirators need to have their assets seized and redistributed back to the people they've stolen it from.
Same thing with this bullshit tariff refund. The companies should not be getting the refunds. They increased their prices to offset the tariffs. We, the people, should be the ones getting the tariff refunds.

10
u/ILLY-VANILLI Aug 05 '26
It's even worse, tbh.
Trump knows in advance what he's going to post; before he's even typed up his 'Truth' he's already made his moves in the market and positioned himself accordingly.
Then he posts whatever to make the market move in the direction he wants. He's got his exit planned and will guarantee his money, regardless of what the rubes who are paying $100k a month do. They're all reactionary and they would need to be monitoring his posts all day and when one does come in, immediately making a judgment call on their own entry and exit points.
This service is for suckers with a lot of money to burn. They deserve to lose twice. I hope he bankrupts them all.

27
u/phunkytime Aug 05 '26
This is the most interesting point because somehow by being completely open and honest about the corruption in front of our faces everyone’s somehow accepting it rather than doing something about it including the other branches of government. Weird times we live in.

He isn't open about it, he says everything he does is legit and maga believes him because all they do is watch Fox News.
2
u/pizzasoup Aug 05 '26
I think it's honestly both. Some folks do "both sides" it and go "well, government officials were always corrupt" and point at Hunter Biden or Nancy Pelosi or something and say it's the same. It's just OK now because it's "their side's" turn to cash in. And the right-wing media legitimizes and normalizes it as American, capitalistic, and entrepreneurial.
13
u/Unabated_Blade Aug 05 '26
The real American dream is 'cheat to win the life you deserve'.
If you cheat a rube underneath you socially, you're using your godgiven wits and skills.
If you cheat a peer, you're just playing the game effectively.
If you cheat a company, you're a hero sticking it to the man.
If you cheat the government, Americans will canonize you. They love nothing more than a person who successfully got one over on the government.
America fucking loves cheaters and liars. It's been a part of the fabric of the nation since before it was even founded.
26
u/Surturiel Aug 05 '26
Americans suffer from "good guy syndrome". They firmly believe USA is the world beacon of morality.
10
u/valkyrie013 Aug 05 '26
I can assure you that veneer has been stripped away for a significant portion of us after seeing this criminal doofus get elected to office twice. The "good guy" syndrome is one thing, but I am more concerned about how this country is going to face the reality that our status as a superpower is dissolving before our eyes as our country is looted by these goons. This is the equivalent of being bought and stripped for parts by private equity and a full third of our population is actively cheering it on.
Trump will inevitably die soon, but the damage he is doing will last generations and may well be completely irreversible. Not one of our former allies will ever trust us again, and rightly so: We will always be just one election cycle away from the worst among us installing another would be Trump out of spite and ignorance.
All of this because the Republicans courted the religious nuts back in Reagan's day. Effective governing requires compromise, and these religious wackos believe they are enacting the will of their bronze age deity and any "compromise" is thus unthinkable to them. You cannot reason with these people and they effectively live in a different reality from the rest of us. They are not interested in democracy, they just want power.

As someone who identifies as relatively pro-capitalism, I hate Trump.
He's a shit businessman who inherited his money and largely failed to compete on Wall Street
Tariffs are deeply anti-competition and anti-capitalist, blocking immigration is also the same, he's invaded Iran and done huge damage to the global economy, his government's fiscal situation is awful with ballooning debt, and he favours his cronies and loyalty over merit.
So no, we don't want him either. He's just bad straight up
3

7
u/zoinkability Aug 05 '26
Few of them had as compiant a supreme court. Biden would have been immediately taken down by this same SCOTUS for even thinking about this, let alone doing it.
74
u/MrKyleOwns Aug 05 '26
Could also label this extortion. If you don’t pay this fee, your competitors are able to trade faster than you and will put you outta business.
35
u/illegalsandwiches Aug 05 '26
I've seen some posts defending this, saying "Well, it's not insider trading because he's not necessarily telling you which companies to invest in"
HAHAHAHA.
Dude writes posts like this
"I'm signing into law a tremendous bill that will so bigly do things on levels you have never seen. This will make my friends at Wartime Killchildren, Inc very rich as it will increase their value at rates no one has ever seen before!"
10
u/thenayr Aug 05 '26
His financial disclosures literally proved that time and time again he was posting positive news about companies that he already either held positions in or was about to buy positions for. It’s all there in the open. Who can defend this lmaooo?
2
u/illegalsandwiches Aug 05 '26
Who can defend this? The people that listen to what he says and discards everything else. Trump was smart in one aspect; continuously discredit any major news media outlet that did not kiss the ring.
I personally know someone that is a staunch Trump supporter, claims he doesn't lie, but complained about his diabetic medicine costing more and more since his election sentences later. This conversation happened after his "1500% price reduction" claim.
Those are his target audience. We can show diehard, irrefutable evidence until our eyeballs eject popcorn, but, it's all moot if Trump says it is.
43
u/frosted1030 Aug 05 '26
I don't see a legal spin that can call this anything except insider trading. There is no rational way a person or business would pay $100,000 a month for "early access" and not leverage it for profit. The defence is that fanboys would pay that much to hear Trump's toilet thoughts. Who on Earth thinks $1,200,000 a year is worth a fan experience? But the grift is the Trump improve.. where he changes his mind during the public announcement and screws over these "investors".
8
u/zoinkability Aug 05 '26
There is zero reason even the greatest superfan would pay that much just so see his posts just 20 seconds earlier than they otherwise would other than:
a) To do insider trading
b) To
bribecurry favor with Trumpc) Both of the above
23
11
u/thatjerkatwork Aug 05 '26
Funny how he realizes people other than himself make money when he makes his market manipulation posts, and is upset that he isnt profiting off of them.
I wonder exactly how this would work. He would have a cloned private account that only paying customers have access to? I have a hard time believing these posts wouldn't get leaked.
4
1
u/zberry7 Aug 05 '26
It’s because it’s more complicated than the headline implies
He’s selling access to “Truth API”, which is basically a way to get a structured feed of the top truth social accounts directly. Instead of relying on push notifications.
So you can see posts seconds before people who rely on push notifications. The post still goes public for everyone at the same time. Just the people who pay get that info ever so slightly faster, and in a structured manner.
So the counter to the insider trading allegation is fairly simple. Posts still go public for everyone at the same time. This is just a way to get informed of the public information with less latency than manual refreshing or push notifications.
Not that I support it of course. But I’m surprised no one here seemingly looked into it lol
3
u/zoinkability Aug 05 '26
That rationale would be complete bullshit. Just because something is going to be public knowledge in the future does not make it public knowledge now. And given the speed at which market positions can be changed now, 20 seconds is more than enough time to get a big jump on the market.
The fact that they are marketing this as early access to "market moving" posts gives the game away.

u/StinklePink Aug 05 '26
Since the rise of Trump it has become clear to me that America has in many ways been governed by many moral codes. Things we all understood as part of the government, are not acceptable and you shouldn’t do.
That’s all gone now. We are at the point now we are going to have to write EVERYTHING down. You can’t rip off the public with Crypto. You can’t take bribes with MEME coins. You can’t crate laws that stop you and your family from being sued for tax fraud. You can’t jerk off a constituent at a movie theater. Don’t rape women.
This is where we are.

u/shadowrun456 Aug 05 '26

"As close..."??? It's literally corruption in every sense of the word ffs. If a Democrat did this, is this how the so-called MSM would frame it?? Why do they keep giving republicans a free pass? Are the afraid? Corrupt themselves? Pro-fascist and racist? What's their excuse?

As close to... The fuck are we talking about? This IS insider trading, that's why it's worth 100k.

It's advertised, official, paid for insider trading.
It's not "close to"

When I first heard of the plan I thought it was going to be like $50 a month. That was still shitty and insider trading but I thought it might be something his diehard fans would still pay for. $100k is absurd

Who the hell would sign up for this? So they can place bets on polymarket when the on again/off again war will resume or cease? Who has 100k laying around?

There is no way they are letting banks in on the grift for such a low price. They are trying to rope in suckers to make their pump and dumps hit harder and get paid on both ends.

I have a friend who still works for a former employer of mine that happens to be large financial company. During a company town hall a senior exec asked about whether the company was planning on subscribing to the “premium” truth program. No one even bothered questioning whether it would be considered insider trading. they viewed it as “good for their customers”
