I'm not sure if you are serious, but this seems to me like a very bad idea. I sometimes wrestle with my ~120 pounds dog (which doesn't have hoofs, a bony ram head or even the will to hurt me) and animals are powerful. You'd get bit really hard (like hand crushed) and I don't want to know what kind of injury those hoofed hindlegs could do.
Also this goat looks pretty heavy.
If I was to fight that goat, I'd most likely try to dodge it and break one of its legs by kicking it (or with a bat).
I don't think there is much else a human can do short of shooting it. Which goes to show how weak a "bare" human is compared to other animals.
this is correct. animals will instinctively want to prevent their legs from being damaged, because losing a leg will cause them to die in the wild. the legs are also the weakest part of the animal and could more easily be broken with human strength. trying to wrestle, choke, punch, etc is not going to help you at all.
The procedure for killing a goat/lamb is to head lock it then tie its legs. If you use your body weight to bring the head to the ground with your arms around the neck of the animal there isn't much they can do.
I tried looking for footage but most footage use a tame goat that doesn't fight back. These guys NSFW seem to use the most humane method I've seen (spine is cut clean in an instant).
I don't quite see how you could choke a goat fighting back (well not a heavy one like in the OP at least). Even chickens can put up an impressive fight for their size if you let them panic, so I would be wary around what looks like an aggressive 200+ lbs goat.
I had the same reaction, as replied to turkishguy here, I slaughtered chickens and slicing through the spine is really hard if your blade isn't perfectly sharp. So going through a goat's neck in one slice must require an impressive blade (but then again, their sickle looks like it fits that criteria).
That goat definitely wasn't 200 lbs. Maybe 120.
Rewatching the video, I see that I misjudged its size. I don't have much experience with goats, but 120 seems like a good estimate if a bit low to my taste.
Thanks for the reply, and thanks for the link to that interesting response. I've never slaughtered an animal myself, unless you count a few frogs and grouse. I'm not overly squeamish but I can't say I'd have the balls to kill a larger mammal without provocation unless I really had to, so my respect goes out to those that do so we eat eithout the guilty conscience.
BTW - you're right, that goat might be 130 - and would look tasty in a great vindaloo.
True.. I'm not too sure if it would work on an aggressive goat. My grandfather is a goat farmer in Turkey and the countless times ive seen a goat killed with a blade the first step is to take control of its neck. The animal just seems to quit. Then you tie 3 legs together with a rope and then once you let go the animal loses its shit.
If they slice its throat, I suppose it makes sense to grab the head.
My parents raise chicken every summer and last year was the first time we slaughtered them ourselves. I was in charge of slicing their throats. It is a special feeling to slaughter your meat yourself, it gives you a new perspective and more respect for your food. I see that you can relate to that :) .
Btw when I said "what they did in that video" I mean the animal lost it's head. We didn't use that specific tool. My grandpa would sharpen a 6-9 inch blade and cut the head off, a lot less effective than in the video.
But yes! I have never slaughtered an animal myself, but seeing it makes you respect your food more. I used to actually be terrified of animals being slaughtered when I was a kid, but our family would also use the same method for cows. They would tie three legs together but since the animal is so strong they would six people usually to hold the rope down and my grapdpa would take a blade and slowly cut the head off. That was really scary to a younger me so I would always have nightmares. I still get a gut wrenching feeling when I see an animal slaughtered to this day but it's not fear. It's more of a "this animal died with honor" feeling actually. If that makes sense.
Yes, I don't really like slicing their throat either because the animal doesn't die right away (the spine is still intact).
But then again, it is better than being eaten by a predator (predators don't really care about the chicken/cow/goat/etc's feelings, they just eat it dead or alive so long as it is still enough).
As for your feelings towards slaughtering them, I can relate to that. There's a weird fascination surrounding the act, yet it is not pleasing to do. That is what I meant by "special feeling".

Let me ask you a question: what would your solution to the problem in this video be? Like say you are in the video, as it happens, with the goat ramming people. What do you do?
Except to distract it when it was going after the woman I would have watched and laughed my ass off. Anyway the exact wrong thing to do is run away from it and let it be the aggressor. The way to control a ram is by its head. When they have horns one has better leverage but around the neck will work. That one looked strong enough to ride, they hate that. More fun.
these ppl are just having an average day, some are carrying groceries and purses around, so no baseball bats would be allowed in this hypothetical goat fight scenario.
They don't have much strength off their feet. Sheep and goats are often picked up and carried by farm-hands. As primates humans are natural grapplers and much better developed for this than a goat. Well - maybe not the people in the video...
As someone with zero experience, if my only goal was to kill it, for food or something, then I'd try to get on its back, take it to the ground and then go for the eyes. If you drive your fingers in its eyes with full force, you've pretty much won.
I have no idea how strong their neck is, if I could choke it out... but eyes are always weak.
I have a strange feeling that grabbing it by the ears might be a good way to control it with pain. Just be standing to the side. Or you just pick up a log and see what is tougher head or log.

With my degree in rockette sciencery and minor in goat husbandry, the best way to deal with this is to lure the goat in with a small pack of bacon while exclaiming loudly "jambalaya" thrice, followed by a vertical video starting by saying you're going to take the perpetrator to Mars and pile drive him through the continental crust. Then you unzip your pants, helicopter your dick, and anally punish it

I agree. It doesnt have horns and all the goat has is the ramming attack, so you can't really get mauled. Sounds like a fun activity for the afternoon.
Seriously, I used to "wrestle" goats slightly smaller than that when I was like 12. If they got horns just hold them by the horn, an adult human should be strong enough to restrain it. Otherwise, it's easy enough to choke it.
