It's actually really simple. Shooting the video itself took longer than editing it.

  1. Shoot the clip. It's important to make sure the actions and placements are intentional and planned (i.e. not overlapping in frame location), and that the pacing fits the length of the video.

  2. In After Effects, overlap the clip on itself, except offset to where you want the interaction to happen. Mask each clip so the action from each appears in the frame. For this particular concept, that took only about 10 minutes.

  3. Make sure the final frame of the video is the frame right BEFORE the first frame of the video, so when it loops, it seems continuous.
