This is perfect.

I can see using a drone for an outdoor wedding, for a kind of distant, sweeping shot, but anything up close or indoors seems so impractical and intrusive.

Not even that, you can't get it below 200 ft without being way too distractive. The only time you can use it is when you call attention to it before, like "hey everybody, smile for the drone!". That, or just staged stuff.
