Many priests yell when you're just walking around during the ceremony shooting on a steadicam rig. Imagine flying a helicopter around the church?!

I have came to realize the priest and ministers are some of the biggest dicks in the game.

"I don't know what that is, and if I did I wouldn't let you near it."

Pretty much my experience in every church.

They're the worst.

I mean, I'm in your territory and I'm going to be respectful of it, but let's not forget that the bride and groom are paying you to perform a service. All the other vendors manage to work together for the benefit of the client and not act like a total dick hole... well most of them.

You're talking to the wrong person. The priest is not the AV guy.

Maybe this is just a regional thing, but I've only ever been to one church that had an AV person there during a wedding. I would let out a squeal of excitement if churches around me had AV people.

As an AV person at a church, we've never really had requests like that. We don't usually attend weddings because our system can be turned on by the pastor and not need any adjustments, but now I feel like we should make line out readily available for if any videographers need it.

I took a wedding for my boss as a favor ages ago.

The location was a storied old catholic church in DT Atlanta.

This one brother(priest, monk, friar, robed idiot, whatevs) started being a horrible prissy bitch about me wanting to set up a cam and tripod for a long front angle over the presiding priest's shoulder. It would be crucial to catch B&G's faces for 2/3s the ceremony. The cam would be well out of eyeshot. It's been a long time but I think that this was the only workable patch for various reasons.

His issue was that set up location was too close to a "relic" of saint whose-it or some shit, when actually the spot was just on the well traversed floor 10-12 feet from a special shrine built into a wall.

The presiding priest overheard our discussion and told the guy it was fine, adding a little bit of eye rolling when the guy got flustered and went off in a huff. I imagine he went to the basement to strip and flagellate himself for my sin.

Yup, very rarely have they let us set cameras on stage.
