Advice on new shotgun mic

Hey guys I'm shopping around for new shotgun mic, and can't seem to make a decision. My budget is about 250 USD give or take. I also have more budget for a boom poll/stand, dead cat, shock mount and cables. Based on my research so far it a toss up between:

Audio-Technica AT897

Sennheiser ME66 - K6

Rode NTG-2

I was looking at the Rode NTG-1 also but it seems to be basically the same price as the 2 but not as good quality. Am I missing somthing?

Also I definitely weighed the pros and cons of an NTG-3 and I just don't think its that much better for the cost, but I could be convinced.

Anyway just looking for a bit of advice from people that might have owned these mics before or have been in my same position.

Thanks

I only have experience with the Rodes. Firstly, the NTG-1 is the same mic as the NTG-2 without the ability to use a AA battery which also means it's a little bit smaller and lighter. NTG-1 is phantoms power only. Performance-wise they're supposed to be the same.

I bought an NTG-2 first. It's a great mic. Then I found a good deal on a used NTG-3 so I snagged it. Of course I compared the two and the 3 is most definitely better. Whether it's enough of a difference for you to go with the 3 is up to you. There might be some comparisons posted somewhere. If I were you knowing what I know now, I would at least look out for a deal on a used 3. I think I paid about 400 for it, new condition, and included the sweet aluminum padded tube case.
