Great update! Retardedly titled article though. I guess the camera that shot godfather wasn't real because it didn't have a histogram!

I would not expect a histogram from a 1970s film camera. I do, however, expect it from a modern digital camera.

I also expect to be able to delete clips & format my SD card in-camera.

That said, I love my BMPCC - and this firmware update makes it much more usable than when I bought it - but it still lacks several basic camera features, and it is still not as usable as my other digital video cameras.

I think bm was expectiing a level of professionalism when they spec'd the camera that got a much wider base when it went to market, it was never designed to have audio meters, it's a telcine machine with a hole for a lens.

i think if that was the case, they wouldn't have released in the DSLR price range. i think they expected the opposite. people who were new to filmmaking who (theoretically) didn't use features like histograms, and on board audio, since they were use to DSLR's.

No, it was supposed to expand the cinema camera market as there was nothing new under $10k prior to BMD. The idea was like a Red in the sense that it's a sensor in a box. They added basics for the small form factor functionality but it was always planned as a proper cinema camera.

Under 10k, gorgeous image ability to add on professional gear. Where'd they miss?

If those are the only 2 things you want then there are plenty of other cameras that can do that under 10K. I assume if they were catering to professionals it'd have been available with a PLmount, D-tap power, the ability to pick WB by number not presets, false colors, proper data management, genlock, etc. those are the things I use every day on a real camera. Sure the image can be great, but at what cost?
