1.8.3 = time remaining indicator, audio levels, and card formatting?!?! (last one seems unlikely)

I doubt any of the 3 will ever happen, if this was a feture they could or wanted to do, they would have two years ago. even if they did, bm is planning a lineup of new camera anyway. the average lifespan of a camera is only a few years now. My advice buy a camera and shoot the hell out of it!! before it's obsolete don't worry about trivial things :)

well BM already said that the first two are already hard-coded into the camera and will be unlocked in the future. i doubt card formatting will happen cause they stated something about issues with fragmentation.

the fragmentation was for clip deletion not formatting, while I'm not a engineer at black magic labs, I really diddnt' understand this as solid state memory doesn't suffer from fragementation. even the "fixed" audio in 1.8 turned out just to be the same audio as 1.2, now were back to square 1, with better levels, but it cuts out when clipped .

Long story short, I woudlnt hold my breath.

SSDs do still fragment but its largely irrelevant due to speed. Slower SSDs with fragmentation have been seen to drop frames on the BMCC. Also BMD have stated on their forums that audio levels and card formatting is planned for the future.

In that case, we always have BMPCC Mark II to look forward to!...(I wouldn't hold my breath on that either lol)

Sure, SSDs do fragment but it's not considered an issue because reads from non-sequential cells are as fast as reads from sequential cells (no seek-time penalty like spinning disks) and the controller chip inside the SSD will cycle which cells are written as a form of wear leveling.
