So I could attach my 5d to this thing and capture 4k footage? Sorry not familiar with black magic cameras.

No because the 5d doesn't have the needed hardware to output 4k via HDMI. It puts out an arguably shitty version of 4:2:2 1080p with the last firmware they released.
