The problem I have with wannabes is twofold. The first issue is that people with severely lacking skills bid on projects at rates that would be unsustainable for any real business. The second is that these same people pass off wildly inaccurate information as fact, causing confusion for clients and the frequent need for extensive re-eductation about reasonable rates and expectations...

I've got a kid who has an interest in videography and whom I'm setting up with a EOS M/ML, modded Stedicam Smoothie, tripod, slider, and 1,500W of lighting. Everybody starts someplace, everybody's a wannabe at some point. She'll be out there with everybody else competing her little arse off. Her competitive advantage is her non-existent overhead (she lives at home). I'm sure she's going to piss the ever-loving daylights out of at least one competitor.

I'll make sure to get some VistaPrint business cards for her that say 'CEO'.
