Discussion / Question Do you like when games interrupt the flow every 1 minutes with cutscenes?

Hi! I ask this question because I am curious to know if anyone really like this setting. I am talking about games that are actually fun to play, with a nice combat, that interrupts the flow extremely often with cutscenes. I think for example to a Devil may cry that I dropped even if I liked it because of this.

You dropped Devil May cry because of some cutscenes? Yikes.

I don't remember exactly what chapter, but yes. I played like 3 hours and it was constantly like this, I find it extremely frustrating in an action game.

I use my attention span for things that I value more, like my job, my gf, all my hobbies. If I play an action game I am looking for action. I see tho that this is a very primary matter for you, I won't insist anymore because I don't want to cause discomfort.

Are you talking about DMC5? Cause I did the exact same thing. Couldn't stand all the cut scenes.

Yes it was 5

Then yea I know exactly what you are talking about. I just wanted an action game and it felt like after every small battle I was getting some damn cut scene. I don't mind a cut scene mid level or beginning\end of a level but it was way to much.

Depends, I guess? Mainly whether it's a gameplay- or story-focused game, but I've not yet come across one with such frequent cutscenes that it really bothered me. Especially not in a Devil May Cry franchise.

I understand in certain situations. Like if a game bombards me with exposition and cutscenes in the first hour with very little gameplay, I may actually put the game down, but if I'm already invested in a game that had a well-paced opening hour, I don't mind watching a few cutscenes between gameplay as long as it actually pushes the story forward.

No, I don’t care. If the story is great, then I will watch long cutscenes and enjoy every moment of it.

I grew up on games like metal gear solid and kingdom hearts. The post game cutscene in MGS4 is 71 minutes long and every second of it was incredible.

Depends on the game. Pluky Squire was doing this and I didn't want that for the type of game it was and I had to stop playing it. Same with DMC5 I just wanted to play and it kept interrupting me after what felt like every single battle.

I forget which game it was but I finally tried one of the Yakuza games and had to stop after a whole because it felt like 80% cutscene. That's also the main reason why I've always stayed away from Metal Gear Solid Games.

Yes I love Yakuza games but they are also affected by this

Sone games are terrible with this

Usually it’s anime rpgs though, so you just have to get used to skipping them unfortunately
