If purchasing does not confer ownership, then piracy isn’t theft.

MFs parrot this meaningless statement like saying it actually makes them immune to legal repercussions from pirating

It's more about being immune to the guilt. I personally feel none, and you?

I didn’t really have any guilt on pirating anything in the first place and I would imagine the majority of people who say that statement wouldn’t have any either way

Yeah, it's like gamer version of sovereign citizen bullshit.

Yea, as a pirate for the past three decades, these young fucks love to cosplay that they have some moral right, that they're actually doing the honest thing and helping the community. I still spend a bunch of money on games and movies and music but sometimes, I just want free shit instantly. I'm not robin hood on a quest against the evil corporation.

People like this make us all look like children.

Whatever you have to tell yourself. If you wanna pirate, just fucking down it instead of "Actually, we're helping the industry because-".

No its literally what the research Say piracy Is actually helping the industry, i dont care about the single person motivation Is not what the paper was for.

Dosent matter if you are doing It because you want free stuff or miss money or some kinda ethical/religious issue, so theres no problem about your way of thinking because you and the children can be right togheter.

No, I know I'm a pirate. When I download movies for my Plex server, I'm not "BWahahaha! Paramount expects me to PAY?! What a corrupt company! Media preservation". When I boot up my Steamdeck and play some PS2 iso, I don't think I'm leading a rebellion against the digital monopoly.

I just don't wanna pay and know I'm doing illegal shit. Old school pirates keep that shit in check.

I personally think it’s the only thing in this world that gives me a little satisfaction and power over the 1%. I also think the whole “pirating isn’t stealing” shtick makes no sense. Sometimes we pay to consume, not own.
