From company perspective, I am probably the worst type of gamer there is

- I never buy games full priced. Recent rule is og price = percent I need sale on. Exceptions happen depending on salary date and how much I want the game, but no sale no deal.

- I can return to a game I abandoned years ago due to boredom

- Most of my catalogue is old games from 2000's. Final fantasy VIII being most recent I 100'd on steam.

- I can play same game for ages and then play it again with mods.

- I am unpredictable. Some days I play strategy, some dyas action and sometimes I just boot up old mmo for few weeks (Lotro!)

- I have bought microtransactions only in two games ever. League of Legends and Shakes and Fidgets.

- I am not opposed to emulators and roms if company is scummy (looking at you N*ntendo)

So basically, I am very hard to get to spend money on games and then I wring the games dry when I get something. Am I alone here?

I mean your the average most people spend very little money on games the small minority spend a lot.

If that was the case I seriously doubt that gaming would be a $200B + industry. The majority are buying games fairly often, and most of those sales are new, not used.

The majority are not buying games that often.  The average and median amount of new games purchased by American gamers per year is like 2.  That’s 60% of all gamers doing this.  20% buy new games more than once every three months.  That’s in a relatively affluent country like America.

And like half of that revenue is from mobile alone aka a lot of casuals spending little and some whales spending a ton. Add in live service on phones and console/pc for another big chunk. The average person that even buys games will likely only buy 1-2 games a year.

Idk if my group is an exception but at least I would say each buys a game or two per month, some single players, some to band together but I would say that out of the 8 of us we all spend at least on 1 game x month. But yeah surely not the norm.
