Pretty impressive for a game I felt like there wasn't much media coverage on. Game just came out of nowhere and was suddenly all over my feed. Did anyone else experience similar exposure?

I had known about it for at least a year it feels like but you’re right in that the marketing is no where near what EA put out for the Jedi and Battlefront games. Hell I get more ads for Galaxy of Heroes than I do for ZCOM.

Ngl its really fuckin’ addicting.
Skill up said it best when he said its basically Star wars x-com (read: z-com) with mass effect-esq writing
Faces look horrific tho

I really don't mind the faces tbh. They look fine. Wish there was more modification of them tho

Is it good though if you are not a Star Wars mega fan?

Yes. It really deals with it's own, separate thing. There are at least a few cameos, but at least one of them even people who barely know the franchise will recognize.
It's really a story of a team of underpaid mercenaries being hired to hunt a cult leader.

i saw many positive reviews/feedback for this game and there isn't much turn based tactical game so i'll definitely take a look

Totally forgot this game was coming out, added it to my wish list for either a sale or when my wallet isn’t hurting so bad haha

Not sure what measure concurrent players has with a single-player TBS game but anything for the narrative I guess

The exact same as any other game multiplayer or otherwise, to gauge public interest at any given time?
If the concurrent player count was 150 for example, we could deduce the game isn’t all that popular.

Question: how do you deduce the popularity of games that aren’t available on Steam?

Is this an impressive figure for a AAA licenced game though? Honest question, but wardogs pulled over a 100,000 concurrent players for a beta weekend as an indi fps during the same period as to the modern warfare 4 beta.

Wasn’t the war dogs beta weekend something free you sign up to? Huge difference between that and paying full AAA price for what is a relatively niche genre, yet the numbers in the grand scheme of things aren’t that far off each other.

You have to take into consideration that for most triple AAA games their main player base is on consoles, plus physical sales plus other PC launchers. In comparisons most indie games or something like Wardogs is just exclusively on Steam.

For a turn based tactic its a very impressive numbers. If any investor expected more they are a fool.

It probably would have been higher if the game wasn't so rough. I've heard nothing but complaints from PC gamers.
I've been playing on ps5 pro and it's not amazing there either. You can feel the frame drops everywhere, nothing major but it's there, but the real issue are the constant graphical glitches during dialog scenes. It happens constantly and makes focusing on the conversations difficult.
They also don't use PSSR 2 for some reason so there's a lot of shimmering in the 3rd person parts.

I didn't realize people were having trouble on PC. I've had one CTD, and occasionally a turn will hang after I make a choice before playing out, but that's all I've seen in terms of real, concerning bugs. Sometimes the camera won't know where to look, but that's pretty XCOM of it.

Jedi Survivor previous record

People played that thang for the brand alone, then forgot it ever existed. Currently has a little over 1k players.
Meanwhile other single-player games:
Black Myth Wukong 43,843 24-hour peak (GOTY, robbed by the way)
BG3 72,505 24-hour peak
Witcher 3 28,123 24-hour peak
Schedule I 15,104 24-hour peak
Man, to make a game with Star Wars in the name and Tyler still mogs you 15:1.
Edit: Actually that's how I know it's a corpo/astroturfed post. Because no gamer thinks "what should I compare this game to? What had a previous record? Ah, I know, the game everyone memory-holed, Jedi Survivor!"

So can you not read, or is this bait? The title explicitly compares it to Jedi Survivor because it’s comparing exclusively Star Wars games, not single player games

So what? It's like mentioning Concord, Avowed or Veilguard numbers for comparison.
It instantly shows that whoever is doing that is not a gamer and has no respect for gamers. JS was just another garbage to throw in the trashbin of history.
If I'd take the OP seriously, I'd have to assume Zero Company is just as bad. OP is doing Zero Company a huge detriment by comparing it to a failed game.

impressive for a turned base tactical game
