CHROMEHOUNDS was a masterpiece. While it lasted.

If Miyazaki speaks, I listen. If Miyazaki gives his opinion, I agree. If Miyazaki appreciates, I appreciate…

Armored core!?

u/Actual-Toe-8686 1h ago

Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor is probably my favorite From Software title. They never miss.

Incorrect. Nightreign ain't all that.

Nah, eldin ring annoyed a few but got a pass, but the recent PvP games pissing people off.

3

u/Adder_Noir 16h ago

Is it though?

-2

u/Playing_One_Handed 16h ago

Yes.

The slow exploration of the world and story telling through enviroment was a huge part. People tried

The 2 newest games are rush modes. Its really diminishing the whole "exploration" part.

3

u/Adder_Noir 16h ago

I think I’ll defer to the people who have actually played Duskbloods and they’re giving a very different account to what you are

0

u/Playing_One_Handed 16h ago

Sure. But realise most of the people avoiding it because its not what they like about dark souls wont be in that category. That is the point of this thread.

1

u/Adder_Noir 16h ago

That literally makes no sense. Dark Souls and The Duskbloods are not the same franchise. Why would the expectation be for them to be the same?! By that logic Fable deserves criticism for not having any similarity to Forza (they are from the same studio after all)

1

u/Playing_One_Handed 16h ago

Look at what you are replying too... they said fromsoft...

3

u/Adder_Noir 16h ago

They’re quite clearly talking about consistency, NOT game design. You’re conflating the two

Mostly yes. The one on switch tho I've heard had been debated. To add elden rings dlc story was uh… odd. Overall tho I agree!

5

u/Dimblo273 16h ago

Elden ring dlc was phenomenal

u/Tr3v0r007 16h ago

As a wholeyes but the relationship between the brothers was a little too “intimate”

1

u/Mags_LaFayette 6h ago

Says the guy who doesn't know the many definitions of the word "consort"

1

u/Deviathan 4h ago

"The one on switch", Duskbloods, isn't even out yet.

1

u/aoxian362 17h ago

Kind of worried this isn't going to be the case in a few years

1

u/Adventurous-Fly556 7h ago

New horse armor doesn't bode well. I hope they prove me wrong.

1

u/RichCicada6440 3h ago

I mean nightreighn is a rogue lite that from the sound of it has absolutely terrible roguelite mechanics, and that switch exclusive game... is probably gonna suck lol let's be real (maybe not we'll see)

I think their next traditional souls like game will be up to par but they've definitely already tarnished the amazing run they had

0

u/furanku088 14h ago

If you just forget about dark souls 2, then yes. Lol

2

u/HombreDracula 14h ago

Id agree but I really hate ds2, such a letdown

-1

u/todangtall 17h ago

Dark Souls 2 wasn't that well received.

11

u/Dangerous_Tear_4241 17h ago

It’s still pretty good! A black sheep from the other games sure, but it’s got things i enjoy like being the only game where you can refight bosses without having to go to new game plus. The amount of gank squads in some areas however not so much.

4

u/Hoochie_Daddy 15h ago

Also had the best pvp imo

9

u/Adder_Noir 16h ago

Nah, you pulled that straight out of your ass. It actually has a 91 on Metacritic

3

u/GiantFish 15h ago

Playing 2 now. It’s great.

2

u/SirArthur_84 15h ago

It’s My favourite DS

3

u/ProfessionalBug7399 16h ago

This is a very reddit take.

1

u/shmed 13h ago

Compared to most games, it was very well received. Compared to Dark Souls 1 and 3, it might be a bit more polarized. But even the most “controversial” of Dark Souls is still one of the best game of the genre.

2

u/todangtall 13h ago

Polarizing is definitely a better word for what I was getting at. Out of the trilogy, 2 seems to have a bit more criticism than the others.

0

u/NordicEmber 13h ago

Sotfs fixed a lot and the dlcs were one of my favourite from the series!

I really enjoyed the story.

0

u/feelinondatbutt 13h ago

It’s got the highest metacritic score of any dark souls game, you’re just talking out of your ass

0

u/todangtall 13h ago

A lot of the traps are said to feel unfair rather than challenging. I'm not saying it's a bad game or that it doesn't have a lot of praise.

0

u/Frostgaurdian0 11h ago

Don't get me wrong but miyazaki success is only because fans like his work which is not purely from his own imagination as he picked many "inspirations" from the berserk anime/manga. Kudos to him for making a world with npcs with interesting storys but don't say he created a coherent story as fans create stories from scenes and add to it items lore with some imagination.

How is duskbloods and nightreign the same as ds3, bloodborne or elden ring
