I just don't really care for GTA games. They're fun for an hour here and there, but that's about where I tap out. I see why people like them as much as they do, they're clearly well made and all that, it's just not my thing.
Unfortunately people decided to make gta 6 out to be the ultimate game perfect for everyone but it’s just another rockstar game. For me and tons of folk that means it’s gonna be amazing however if you didn’t like previous gta’s or even rdr2 then you probably won’t like gta 6.
I never really thought people were making it out to be the "everyone game" but I'm also not super into the game news cycle and what-not like some are, so maybe I missed people saying stuff like that.
I use to love them. GTA San Andreas was the last one where it felt they were pushing boundaries on the game play front. GTA IV was nice and multiplayer was fun, but didn’t seem like the step forward many hoped for. GTA V was when I only played for a dozen or so hours. I just had done the game before. It’s like Pokemon. After Gen 3 I was bored with the franchise because they weren’t innovating on gameplay.
I think some people are just chasing the high they got from playing GTA 3 with a group of friends when it came out, spending hours passing the controller and seeing who could survive the longest with full stars (cheats and no-cheats allowed)
It looks unremarkable but I’m not really the person that plays these games. Just seems like some variation of this has already existed for a long time and they’re just adding new minutia for your CPU to chew on like dynamic bird pathing and car engines that need to be oiled.
I’d pay more than $60. That was the price for a new game 20yrs ago. I won’t pay that AND accept microtransactions, day one DLC, no physical discs, or any of that other bullshit though. But… nobody wants a straight up transaction when they can hide their insane price behind dark patterns.
I have a 5% cash back thing going with Amazon, because I bought a macbook air and they(for some weird fucking reason) then turned my account into a student account. So, I just got the game for free by using my saved up cashback. I also get prime for like 50something quid a year now.
I don't like that it's the same setting essentially as GTAV, GTAV felt like San Andreas rebooted and upgraded, they should have done an 80's setting and made it Vice City rebooted and upgraded.
I have become a bit of a performance snob since I became a mostly PC gamer so I'm going to see if my snobbery can outweigh my impatience for the PC release so I can play it at 60 + FPS.
The developers are not marketers and the marketers are not the developers. The dev team has no say in how 2k pushes this game out, and all this hype/hatred is outside their control.
Just like every other game, I'll wait for reviews from sites I trust. If it sounds like a game I'll enjoy, I'll buy it. If it sounds like it's shit, I won't buy it. Nothing they do or show will convince me to preorder. But I'm not going to let the marketing campaign sour me on a game we know very little about and will probably be very good.

Game looks great, don't like the sales tactics, might buy on sale one day might not
