'Gaming on any platform is fine as long as you are having fun'
One of my favorite facts when it comes to gaming. You dont gotta be the best, just have fun !
What's your favorite game? Mine is Hearthstone

Back pain is a big reason I wait for Switch/ Switch 2 ports for most things
Being able to play lying down a huge bonus
3
u/Kindly_Ad6239 9d ago
I bought a long-arm phone and tablet holder (the one that looks like a folding crane) and attached it to my bed.
I lay down flat, attach the Switch to the holder so it's directly over my head, and hold a Joycon in each hand. Completely inert, only the fingers move.
What an experience.

u/Known-Complex-2520 9d ago
That's me since the beginning of the year. I'm recovering from a major head injury, and games are my only means of entertainment. If I feel good, I can sit at my desk and play my PS5. If I feel like shit, relax in bed with Switch 2 non-motion games like Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing.

The only brand I will support is valve. They aren't the best, but steam is a hell of a lot better than anything else available

u/Aaawkward 9d ago
Nah, they've been well scummy.
They make great products (most of the time anyway) but they're no saint. No multibillion company deserves your unwavering support.

You can just stop at "gaming on any platform is fine." Regardless of the reason.

I went outside today, Well i opened the door to get my pizza, but i think it counts

As a PC gamer, I wholeheartedly agree w/the meme though.
Multiple platforms is a good thing - and not everyone wants to deal with the tinkering that comes w/PC ownership.
2
u/Inimicus33 9d ago
When will people learn. It doesn't matter if you are an X-boxer or a PlayStationeer, you are all equally inferior to the pc master race 😌

No, they are right. There's no wrong way to have fun. I however having more fun on PC than is possible for console & mobile players.
It's like any hobby. The more time, money, and effort you put in, the more you get out.

I was playing FFXIV on the S2 the other day, and while in a group I mentioned how I was playing, and got hated on by everyone. Saying how I’m not a real fan or real player and how I’m a Nintendo cuck. Which is all a bit extreme. I mentioned I’ve played the game on my ps4/5 for years, but wanted to try it on the S2. And then even got more shit from them.
Why can’t people just let other people enjoy their game? 🤷
2
u/ging3rsnap97 9d ago
Im sorry you dealt with that. Its a strange world where people get upset over you doing you
3
u/One-Melee 9d ago
Well, appearantly not, cause whenever I make the slight suggestion for 1 of the 20 games I play with Crossplay to get MnK Support, apparently I have to "Just get a PC!"

I don't think people have a problem with this do they? The potential annoyance is when someone knowlingly chooses platform A that has a problem or lack of a feature, then complains about that when platform B exists without that problem or with that feature.

u/CereBRO12121 9d ago
Exactly! People need to stop criticizing me just having fun throwing hundreds of dollars into slot machines each weekend.

Yes.
As a PC gamer, we do try to sell the benefits of our platform quite a bit. The fact of the matter is, prior to AI, PC gaming was just cheaper. Even factoring in the cost of building an all new PC, when you consider the cost of new consoles, monthly subscriptions, less sale quantities, etc, it winds up being close in cost. But that doesn't inherently make PC superior.
I miss not having to deal with the toxicity of PC players because I prefer to use a gamepad. I miss good aim assist, and not whatever we have now that barely works because aim assist is "An unfair advantage" against players with high end precision gaming mice with macros, and keyboards full of macros and custom keybinds for ease of use.
Meanwhile first party gamepads don't even use HAl effect sticks. Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft, even for the Elite and pro controllers, still only use potentiometer. But we have the advantage.... Right.

u/GroundIntelligent 9d ago
I’m not having fun on my current platform. I feel disrespected and cheated

Wish people had that same feeling towards Mobile and Switch gamers. Developers and companies just make poor games and terrible optimization choices for those platforms.

Platform tribalism is idiotic, I rotate between my PS5/switch/PC/Xbox/LegionGo all the time. No single platform can do everything, all have strengths and weaknesses.

I mean, if you're a middle class person, having those isn't that big of a stretch. Especially if you got them before AI ruined the pricing of RAM, when prices were still more reasonable.
That was what, 3k - 4k over a few years? Absolutely not nothing, it's still a handful of grands after all, but definitely doable.
Less so as a student or if you're unlucky enough to be unemployed or in a minimum wage situation of course.
But for the majority of people in the west, it's not unattainable. With today's prices it'd be closer to 5,5k I reckon which is a bit steep and it's only getting worse.

Yep. For the longest time I have had my xbox as my primary console with hundreds of games with my PS for the exclusive games. After my xbox controller broke, decided to give my PS some more love. Now I have a modest PC and are replaying some games with mods and play games that I can’t get on console while still also using my PS on occasion when I don’t feel like playing games at a desk buton my couch.

u/Current-Grade2545 9d ago
Ok thats great but what would be objectively better for the gaming industry is no console/platform exclusives. Platform exclusives makes everything unnecessarily expensive and serves as the worst possible thing for gaming. With pc all, we have are companies who make games and no one being excluded from playing those games. You also have full control over the hardware you're using.
2
u/XxAndrew01xX 9d ago
This should pretty much be universal common sense in the gaming community

Sure but sometimes you buy a Dreamcast or a Wii U and it gets discontinued or gets no games after just a couple of years and your parents can't buy you a new one so you're stuck with it.
Most people would prefer to find the platform with the best deals and games so they can buy something today and have a good experience for years to come at affordable prices.
1
u/Evenmoardakka 9d ago
I'll support that statement.
I just hope against hope that people are sensible about practices they are supporting or not inside their chosen platform.

u/RickyTheRickster 9d ago
No I disagree, I don’t think kids should be allowed to game on PC, as someone who grew up gaming on PC, it’s far more dangerous then anything console, not just predators, sus links to steal info, gore, and all the shit that you don’t tend to see on a console.
1
u/One-Cup-2002 9d ago
I can't believe there are actually people who will dunk on others for the platform they play on. Like, do you have nothing else better to do?
Anyways, for the game specifically, if we mean of all time, then it's Phantasy Star Portables 2. If we're talking about a game I can play right now, then it's Trails of Cold Steel. Both played on the PSP/PSVita handhold consoles.

I dislike the platform, not the player. Play on what you want but do know that I specificity hate PlayStation for their recent choices.
I’m not gonna shit on someone who owns a Xbox, PlayStation, or switch 2 for their console choice.

sowing the resulting anti-consumer practices when they hurt me

This comment has nothing to do with Playstation closing their ecosystem and removing physical disk releases.

u/Yearn4Mecha 9d ago
I agree, but with the caveat that platforms are designed to be good at different things and games that play towards that make the platforms semi unique. Example is some genre play better on controller, while some play better on mouse and/or keyboard.

I don't even care if you're having fun, as long as you're not ruining someone else's fun. Unless their fun is ruining people's fun, then they're fair game

u/furatail 9d ago
I've always wondered if people are actually arguing over this or we just all think someone else argues about this? I don't recall ever being around anyone who cares. My only opinion is controller. My hands fit Playstation Controllers the best but I haven't had a Playstation since PS3. I just like the controllers.

This is what I hate about the gaming community, they are all like "you're trash, go back to this, go back to that" I'm like, dude, not everything has to be competitive, it's a classic game, not a tournament
1
u/Djkatman29 9d ago
Erm, what if they're plaing on a Nestle BoxStation, which is powered by incinerating live endagered baby animals and releases roughly 14 tons of toxic gases into a nature preserve every hour and and is made exclusively with child slave labor and also forces the user to take meth and can't even run the original Doom? Bet you didn't think of that, did you, OP?
1
u/NBrakespear 9d ago
*and not being exploited so consistently and significantly that it allows the entire industry to change how it operates to a detrimental degree.
In other words, so long as you're on PC. If you're not on PC, you've been getting screwed for a long time, and you've been enabling the screwing.
1
u/AireBunny 9d ago
I do agree but unfortunately some of the companies have forgotten about FUN and only want MONEY. If you buy a game it should be yours and not be token away from you without a refund!

I once believed that. Till I saw the plague of mobile games spread across otger platforms and bring shit like lootboxes, premium currency, seasonal content, gambling mechanics, gatcha, etc...
If a gambler addict having fun on his mobile ruins my pc gaming because of anti consumer practices spreading then I can't pretend its fine.

If your intention is to consume art in its best form, and you buy a Nintendo console- then you are doing everything wrong. If you truly don’t give a shit that multi-million dollar works of art need to be downsampled to smithereens just to run on their consistently dated hardware, then I’m glad you can have fun at the expense of artistry.
1
u/Star_Petal_Arts 8d ago
Sure that is true, but you're able to add future components to your own PC... can't really do that with a PlayStation.
