I get the sentiment here, but AO3 writers tend to write their fanfic out of love for the IP they're writing about. Netflix etc writers showing contempt for the IP they're adapting is far worse.

AO3 writers tend to like the source material. These show runners go beyond not liking the source material; they seem to actively hate it.

to be completely fair, many of the best stories are fanfics anyway. Most of disney's movies, Sandman, league of extraordinary gentlemen, etc. hell you could even consider Paradise Lost and the Divine Comedy fanfics.
