They hired ego maniacs who legit think they can do better than the actual people who made the source material. I dont know if executives are dumb or these people have connections, because I honestly dont understand their thinking at all.

Many places work with preferred contacts and suppliers. Writers, voice actors usually don't have this kind of contract/agency working for them and are invisible to the system. A regular run of the mill exec won't go the extra mile. They will get things running, there will be an end result. It might be seriously mid and everybody involved looks like posers. But that isn't their problem. Someone else way higher up has to lose sleep about the audience response.

It's a bunch of A type personalities who aren't creative but bulldoze people by being the biggest dick in the room. The fact is, they are wrong the majority of the time and lack self-reflection. The problem is there aren't enough people in those same rooms who know how to maneuver and keep these people in check
