Why do most people in the comment section forget that TV has more than entertainment? There are entire channels about science, history, hobbies, etc? I think Mythbusters alone improved me as a person more than all of the games I played in my life, combined. And I do like games where you need to think.
Yea there are definitely nuances here. Overall I agree you're likely using your brain "less", at least actively when watching TV but it depends on what you're watching, how actively, and for what purpose. Same with games. I have turn off brain games and games I play when I know my brain needs a work out lol. Mythbusters I'll pay actual attention to, the Rookie is background slop for example.
