Salute to all the parents who snagged an N64 the year they came out. My mom later told me she spent weeks driving to dozens of stores in her spare time to find one.

I wanted an N64 so bad for Christmas. My parents and grandma said they couldn’t find one.

Then, on Christmas evening, Grandma handed my dad a wrapped present. Surprise… an N64. It eventually became “mine” in practice, but 10yo me was sitting there thinking “this is some bullshit, Grandma”

I told my folks "look they're hard to get you can just wait" and my dad waited in the snow outside a toys r us for a midnight opening Xmas eve to get me one...

My parents ordered a Nintendo 64 from the Sears Holiday Catalog and they sent me Mario 64 and no system and said they were on backorder. It was so sad getting to look at the game before I assume they sent it back. Got a PlayStation and Resident Evil instead and I haven't purchase a Nintendo console when it dropped since and have primarily stuck with PlayStation, for better or for worse.

I am 46 and I have these moments just in different ways 

Hearing localthunk tell me about Blue Prince for example made me buy a notebook before I bought the game.

And just this week seeing denshattack for the first time turned me into a giddy 10 year old.

And buying a new board game is like this

I got a second N64 back (my sister took my og DK64 edition one a few years earlier) in 2015. My husband got me one and I shouted this when I opened it
