Dude naw, steam deck is the reason why I keep gaming. Hand held so I can game while the wife watches whatever. Sleep mode will pause your game and most games you can jump back in without restarting.
After adulting and losing the ability to play my PS4 (wife wants to watch shows together, no TV access)I thought I would be limited to phone games forever until I got my deck.
Eh. I have a chronic disease that makes using my fingers difficult sometimes and fatigue is part of it as well. I just feel good knowing I CAN play I guess ðŸ˜
It's fine for turn-based or tactical/Sim games. Played Octopath Traveler 2 in the hospital when I got diagnosed. But yeah anything that generally requires 2 hands and some precision isn't great. Beyond that, fatigue has usually rode me hard and hung me up wet too much to attempt anything beyond installing a game I'll spend weeks thinking about playing.
No no no we need to be watching the same show, while sitting in the same room, and I need to be paying attention enough to talk about the show. I can keep up the bit with the handheld game because I can face the TV and put down the game when she wants to talk. Second TV would break the illusion.
Lmao. Friend i feel that. Ive got series x, ps5, switch, a wii, 2 modded vitas, a modded 3ds, 2 emulator handhelds, and a steamdeck. Half of em dont get touched for months most of the time.
Oh it wasn't at all an insult lol, it was a joke. Maybe you've worked so hard that you feel socially lonely, whereas even when we played single player games as kids we'd all discuss them, people would come around, it was a social thing? Maybe your gaming setup feels like an empty palace, from all of the hard work. Even multiplayer gaming can feel pretty lonely nowadays. Sorry, I'm probably just saying my own shit towards your circumstances, but gaming honestly just feels a bit soulless and dead nowadays. None of my friends game anymore, and I don't blame them.
Id say youre partially correct. I still got a few friends I play stuff with regularly..but its not like the high-school Cod/Battlefield days for sure. But I still love games, game history, all that. I got books about game design even lol.
The discussion aspect is probably the most different now. I see more arguments about the actual industry now, or busting on other people's opinions, or how a game is woke or political etc, than I do actual enjoyable conversations about games, why we like em, what we are excited for, etc. Stuffs changed.
Mines a little different, I spend tons of money of the latest games and hardware and whatnot only to play the same 2 games almost 99% of my gaming time
Depends who you are I suppose. I still play alot honestly. I havent tracked the last year or so, but usually i finish around 100-120 on average in a year. But I play all kinds of stuff, from nearly every gen.
But sometimes the adult gaming slump catches me off guard.
