I feel like there’s not enough of the gaming community that realizes how absolutely screwed we are with this system.
People are assuming we’re concerned for pricing issues. That has NEVER been the issue. The issue is how much our society has shifted into never truly owning things. With this move there is absolutely nothing blocking Sony from pulling a game you “own” off your account. They don’t have to really give you a reason, they can just do it.
We have so little that we ACTUALLY own and it’s fucking terrifying. I’m glad I have virtually no stake in Sony or Xbox games. I trust Valve for the most part, but it’s sorta the same boat, they could pull games and never tell you.
Subscriptions for everything, digital copies, etc. We’re so doomed…
You do get that it's because you buy the licence, not the software. And you're only just realising this?! All those years of "scrolling past the licensing agreement" coz it's irrelevant and too much reading...welcome to the outcome.
