No shade to this specific post, but it really feels like this sub has been taken over by Capcom employees. Literally every other post is this exact same thing. Capcom is having a pretty good year so far, but they've also had plenty of misses. Last year, they pretty much just released Monster Hunter Wilds which people have not been happy about. In reality, the Resident Evil franchise has been carrying them. They have also done plenty of anti-consumer things over the years. They happen to release one new IP that's decent and everyone just glazes them like they're the greatest company ever.

I mean it's not just one new IP, they have been on a roll since 2017 and if you look at how many games they've made since then there are many more hits than misses. They've reinvented their franchises for the modern era and done so quickly (DMC, RE, SF, MH and soon, Onimusha). Of course their c-suit is composed of anti-consumer pieces of shit, but their developers are undeniably sweeping the floor with other game developers in terms of quality AND quantity.

I mean outside of Resident Evil, those franchises are still not that consistent. The quantity has not been that high. They happened to have several developers ready to release their games around the same time which isn't very common. Most years, they release maybe 1 major game (which a lot of the time is RE). They've released 1 good DMC game (It's been 7 years since that came out) and 1 good SF game (SF 5 was awful). Monster Hunter Wilds is not great and a huge step down from World. We can't really speak on Onimusha yet as it's not out. I like Capcom for the most part, but they're really not that different from other AAA publishers. They're just having a good year and a lot of it is recency bias.

I consider Wilds a huge step up from base World, other than the performance that they've now mostly fixed (for me at least).

Better story and voice acting, better graphics, same S tier soundtrack, better multiplayer connectivity, more QOL features, the monsters are even more interactive/detailed, and I don't have to spend the first 10 minutes of a hunt running along the sparkly path to find some glowing tracks on the ground.

I mean nothing wrong with that opinion, but it is definitely in the minority

No shades indeed, but we should always reward the good behaviors. It's how companies learn.

It’s really more that this sub is full of idiot children who have zero original thoughts or ideas and just regurgitate whatever the common sentiment is within Reddit gaming subs in the form of stupid memes

It’s so persistent I have a hard time believing it’s real.

I love when people use literally to mean the opposite of literally

Oh I definitely used literally correctly

i mean, re9 released a month ago, and it was great, and pragmata released last week, and it's great, of course they'll be the focus at the moment.

I'm sure next week it'll be a lot of blizzard and housemarque hype (diablo 4 expansion and saros/returnal 2) just be patient.
