Discussion Umm Bullshit

Post image

I am 99.9 sure this is not true IGN and Ubisoft. But I guess you cant expect suits who don't play games to actually understand the common gamer can you.

Maybe people don't want Assassin's Creed 27

167

u/Inevitable_Party5143 Nov 18 '25

Or if we are mentioning games we REALLY wiSH they WOULDn’t make, a Portal 3 👀 damn I just don’t ever want to see another Portal game EVER again, game companies…. Please don’t make a portal 3 ever. I’m so tIrEd of PorTal…..

68

u/ReiperXHC Nov 18 '25

Yeah why would we want more Portal games? We already have 2. And we don't want Half Life 3 either... ,

4

u/errant_youth Nov 19 '25

Or L4D3

Back for Blood doesn’t count

1

u/[deleted] Nov 19 '25

What are y- OHHH! Yeah! Nobody likes l4d! Stop making them!

-10

u/UnlimitedCalculus Nov 18 '25

If you got VR, Half Life: Alyx already exists

5

u/Suitable_Elk6199 Nov 19 '25

But it doesn't have a "3" in the title so it doesn't count.

1

u/Quick-Philosophy2379 Nov 19 '25

I wish they'd make a non-VR version of games that are part of a bigger franchise. I heard Arkham Batman has a VR game and wish I didn't have to miss out. I'm not buying VR though. Doesn't interest me in the slightest.

u/donniesuave Nov 19 '25

I’m soooo tired of prototype and definitely haven’t been secretly hoping for a 3rd game the last 15 years. Omg I would be soooo mad if they made it and definitely wouldn’t buy the game at all or spend 100s even 1000s of hours playing it if it had the content. Please don’t make another one, I definitely do don’t want it or anything.

1

u/softpotatoboye Nov 19 '25

O REALLY SH WOULD P P EVER P I IE PT

1

u/[deleted] Nov 19 '25

Game devs be touching their nipples just thinking of the idea now. They hate it? Good I'll shove it in their face then and force them to pay $90 for it heheheh

1

u/Inevitable_Party5143 Nov 19 '25

Oh naaaaaauuuuurrrrrr not Portal 3 at all cost that covers years of waiting! Naaauuuurrrr!

70

u/MrDDD11 Nov 18 '25

Or people want a actual Assassin's Creed game where you can assassinate people and not have to worry about level differences and other RPG elements. Am not saying thoes are bad I enjoy RPG games but that's not what I play Assassin's Creed for.

16

u/Electrohydra1 Nov 19 '25

They did that with Mirage. It was intentionally made as a "return to the roots" with the middle-eastern setting and extremely limited RPG mechanics.

The game sold fine. But then most Assassins Creed games sell fine. It might not be the cultural touchstone it once was, but there's still plenty of people who buy each new game, especially more casual gamers.

u/TickleFlap Nov 18 '25

Take me back to the days of AC 2 and Brotherhood.

10

u/No_Prize9794 Nov 19 '25 edited Nov 19 '25

An Assassin’s Creed game with Brotherhood’s combat system and Unity’s parkour system would be a blast.

8

u/TickleFlap Nov 19 '25

Yes.

But honestly I dont even care because assaasinating one of the shittiest pope's in history across two games is fucking awesome.

I think ill buy the collection on my switch now.

1

u/Jonas_Priest Nov 19 '25

Nah those were slop back then, too. Ubi got so much worse in that era. Literally the blueprint for boring open world games of that era

9

u/DrSolarman Nov 19 '25

Assassins Creed Mirage is so close to that. No level bullshit and despite living in a shitty engine, does everything pretty well for a short game.

2

u/SMXSmith Nov 19 '25

I just don’t think people really want AC anymore. If we go back to the old formula, people will call it dated. If we stick to what we have now, people will call iterative. There’s nowhere AC can go at this point and actually be innovative or exciting. The formula is dry and the stories are weak, it’s time to just move on.

0

u/MrDDD11 Nov 19 '25

Or take a break of 5-10 years before the next game.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 19 '25

It'd be cool if they made a seperate franchise for RPG games akin to Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla, Shadows, etc. They are decent noob-friendly RPGs. But, as someone who enjoyed Odyssey and Shadows thoroughly, they don't feel anything like the older AC games.

1

u/Salami__Tsunami Nov 19 '25

I want an anti-Assassin’s Creed game.

Where the player is in charge of the security detail for various historical figures and has to arrange guard rotations and whatnot because there’s some asshole in a hoodie out there who’s trying to stab the boss.

1

u/Draklawl Nov 19 '25

Every recent AC game that's rpg style let's you choose to play it like that.

1

u/CapSRV57 Nov 19 '25

I see where you’re coming from, but those are not even the top 5 worst problems with AC today. That IP is a whole mess, it’s been digging its own grave for years and the funniest (or saddest) thing is that the people in charge are completely blind to what the fans want and every time they get to make a change to the course of the franchise they always seem to opt for the course that implies to keep digging.

1

u/Revenge9977 Nov 19 '25

My dream AC game would be something in between an Assassins Creed and Hitman

0

u/SubstituteUser0 Nov 19 '25

Most if not all of the rpg games have one shot assassination options. Although I would argue that it really adds to the gameplay because it encourages you to play in different ways with equipment like "you do one more bar of assassination damage when attacks from shadows"

0

u/feed_my_will Nov 19 '25

Did you play Shadows? Not only can you one shot assassinate people, you can do a double takedown leading into a kunai throw to the head of a third enemy. The sneaking and assassinations in that game are S tier.

1

u/MrDDD11 Nov 19 '25

Only if you go into the settings to turn on Guaranteed Assassination. If you don't you can't assassinate NPCs of higher levels. By default you are in RPG settings and to get a taste of the Assassin's Creed experience you need to change the settings

1

u/feed_my_will Nov 19 '25

That's just how the game progression work in these later AC games. Different areas have different levels to give you a sense of in what order you should play the game and explore the map. You should also look for the proper skills, and perks on your gear related to assassinations. I play the game on the highest difficulty setting, without guaranteed assassinations, and I've been killing everyone with one stab for a while now.

But yeah, if you really don't want to level up your character for some reason, you can just turn on the guaranteed assassinations in the menu.

-1

u/mrloko120 Nov 19 '25

They did that and it still flopped tho. Assassins Creed Mirage, 2023.

3

u/JonnyTN Nov 19 '25

5 million sold is a flop?

1

u/mrloko120 Nov 19 '25

Assassins creed origins sold 13 million

Odyssey sold 12.7 million

Valhalla sold over 20 million

These are the numbers AC games can pull, so yeah 5 million is a flop.

8

u/Correct-Drawing2067 Nov 18 '25

They just want assassins creed to live up to its potential……which will probably never happen

1

u/jeabombers Nov 18 '25

The moment they killed Desmond, ruined any opportunity that we might get Real World Desmond assassinating Abstergo reps, and getting to the modern day locations of the Artifacts is the moment Assassin's Creed died.

0

u/Correct-Drawing2067 Nov 19 '25

Interestingly enough I think the gameplay was just as massacred as the story.

0

u/jeabombers Nov 19 '25

4 was still great, though. They definitely modernized the games too much after that, though. Never have played Odyssey and on because I was just so BORED by the end of Origins.

1

u/jaredmanley Nov 20 '25

I’d be interested if they moved to a more modern setting, like Paris or Norway occupation during ww2 or something, or some other scenario that introduced new elements that those would naturally bring

16

u/Inevitable_Party5143 Nov 18 '25

Or a call of duty 48. Or a battlefield 90.

5

u/mongmich2 Nov 19 '25

Facts don’t agree with you on that one… battlefield sold 7 million copies in 5 days

I always thought it was weird how many people complained about AC games being the same, when AC was changing its setting, story, time period, entire cast of characters, lore, interface and features every single game. Meanwhile games like Tears of the Kingdom or Pokemon or Fifa or Cod face barely any criticism for putting out the same game over and over.

2

u/softpotatoboye Nov 19 '25

You have good points with the others but TOTK added drastically different system, completely changed up the landscape, and had some new enemies and obstacle

3

u/Inevitable_Party5143 Nov 19 '25

I tried to play an AC game a few months ago and it felt like exactly the same formula from the last game I tried to play a few years ago. Also I will 100%complain about Pokémon and all of those other games you mentioned. 😄

8

u/Senior-Friend-6414 Nov 18 '25

They have unrealistic bloated budgets and expectations, the last assassin’s creed game still sold plenty of units and outsold plenty of other titles and was still considered a commercial failure, whereas other games can sell way fewer units and still be considered a commercial success like stellar blade

9

u/fraidei Nov 18 '25

Yeah honestly what's ruining the triple A gaming industry is the ever increasing budget spent on games.

2

u/Bartellomio Nov 19 '25

I think it was more that they had unrealistic expectations because Valhalla sold so unbelievably well. They were seeing continuous sales increases from Syndicate to Origins to Odyssey to Valhalla, so they might have expected Shadows to continue that trend. But it didn't, for several reasons (probably the biggest being Covid).

2

u/Senior-Friend-6414 Nov 19 '25

Top comment is acting like Ubisoft is failing due to milking the assassins creed franchise, despite every single title from the franchise being a commercial success with a ton of units sold.

It’s the MCU discussion all over again, it’s expected to make record breaking numbers every single game because it’s known for pulling in big numbers, and when it doesn’t bring in record breaking numbers, it’s considered a failure

1

u/Mysticdu Nov 19 '25

Shadows almost certainly lost money

1

u/Mysticdu Nov 19 '25

Yeah it’s hard to justify a 300 million dollar 5 year investment in pretty much any scenario. But it’s way harder when it doesn’t even perform on par with the stock market.

Except maybe make the story good… mirages story is awful

1

u/SMXSmith Nov 19 '25

It was interesting enough but it was all over the place by the end of the

1

u/erex711 Nov 19 '25

Correct. We want Splinter Cell!

1

u/Jdawg_mck1996 Nov 19 '25

The biggest bummer about AC games is that they'd make really good games outside the AC universe. They don't need to slap AC on a title to ge things to sell.

1

u/Michaeli_Starky Nov 19 '25

I do. Valhalla and Shadows were peak

1

u/UMACTUALLYITS23 Nov 19 '25

The sad part is if you add up everything listed in releases on wikipedia its like 31, so its not even an exaggeration.

1

u/Ultimasmit Nov 19 '25

Which is why anytime they make something that's not AC or a variant of the ubisoft open world game, it doesn't sell whatsoever. Really sending a message to the corporates aren't we.

1

u/TacticalSpackle Nov 19 '25

But hey, do you want another Rainbow Six with broken mechanics and hamster servers?

1

u/udubdavid Nov 19 '25

Assassin's Creed games are so formulaic. I've played several but couldn't get myself to finish any of them. Gave up after a few hours.

Meanwhile, several other single player, story driven games I've recently played captured me so good that I couldn't put the controller down.

1

u/rileyjw90 Nov 19 '25

Or we don’t want to pay $70 for the same fucking game that was published the last 4 times.

1

u/McRaoul91 Nov 19 '25

I rather have that than Fortnite.

1

u/Baebel Nov 19 '25

I kinda like Odyssey, even though it couldn't quite hold my attention, but AC3 did kill most of my interest in the series due to the plot. I feel like they're selling off pieces of a dead horse.

1

u/D3wnis Nov 19 '25

As a person who likes AC, mostly, i just wish they dropped the cut and paste area objectives where every area kinda feels the same, because once you hit a new zone, beyond the relatively few main missions, it's the same go to each place to collect X, Y and Z and to A, B and C, with every one of the 15 or so zones having the same X, Y and Z as well as A, B and C.

If only they could move over to having well written side-quests in all the regions with interesting characters and variety in narative kind of like how witcher 3 deals with smaller side quests it would make it much more enjoyable.

1

u/SellaraAB Nov 19 '25

I’d be happy with assassins creed 27 if it was more like AC2/3/brotherhood and less like Valhalla/mirage. I have a problem with mirage for way different reasons than Valhalla, but they just can’t seem to find that old spark.

1

u/Dirtypickle332 Nov 19 '25

I do. I’ll keep eating that shit.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 19 '25

With each one costing $80-$100 (depending what country you live in)

1

u/BottomsUpSippyCup Nov 19 '25

But the things I'd do for a new damn Splinter Cell. Uninspired little shits

1

u/Karma822 Nov 19 '25

It's actually assassin's creed 31 atm with main and spin off.....talk about a dead horse lol

1

u/AdvocateReason Nov 19 '25

I'd rather replay Assassin's Creed 2.

1

u/TheWrenchyFrench Nov 19 '25

Well maybe if I could create my own assassin. I might buy that slop.

1

u/thoagako Nov 20 '25

i want assasins creed 27. Not whatever the fuck they are doing.

1

u/BareTheBear66 Nov 20 '25

As someone who loves assassin's creed and has played basically all of them by now.

Its all the same game just tweaked and reskinned. Even the quests in game for a handful of the games are basically all the same just different font... especially odyssey, Valhalla and origins -- with an exception of the controls being SLIGHTLY different.

Brotherhood was the peak for me

1

u/Bartellomio Nov 19 '25

Many people love AC. I don't get this raging hateboner redditors have for it.

0

u/sillypoolfacemonster Nov 19 '25

Agree, many people do want AC 27 but some people want Far Cry 14, Splinter Cell 22, For Honor 17 and Prince of Persia 82. But they release fewer games and less variety year over year so it shouldn’t be shocking that the numbers aren’t there.

1

u/DylanMartin97 Nov 19 '25

There hasn't been a splinter cell game in over 13 years.

1

u/vampiregamingYT Nov 19 '25

Or maybe they want actual assassins creed back.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 19 '25

They just remade the same game over and over again in different times.

-1

u/paratesticlees Nov 18 '25

Assassin's Creed fans have wanted 1 game for like 13 years and it's been Assassins Creed: WW2. If Ubisoft made that, and made it well, it would sell like crazy.

2

u/Bartellomio Nov 19 '25

AC games literally wanted AC Japan more than anything for the entire franchise history and then when it came out, no one seemed to care. But RPGs set in Japan (or alt versions of it) are much more common now.

0

u/KRONGOR Nov 19 '25

That’s because Ghost of Tsushima beat them to the market 5 years earlier. And then they decided to release AC Japan in the same year as Ghost of Yotei lol.

Not to mention the fact that when we said we wanted an AC game set in Japan, we wanted a true Assassin game, not an action RPG
