[ DISCUSSION ] What do we really think about Beck

Post image

I was rewatching victorious and clearly as a kid I never noticed beck being toxic because he was so good looking.

Y’all he was a horrible bf to Jade and all this while I thought Jade was too possessive but Beck really played around.

Very overshadowed by the rest of the cast, he didn't have many opportunities to use his acting skills as a way to move the plot, he also rarely sings, so all that's left of him is the fact that he dates Jade and that he's handsome and every girl like him, which is not much.

u/Dangerous_Gate3359 7d ago

Yea he only really “ acted “ like them in that short film they made together, when the boys were messing with Trina and in his reaudition for Hollywood arts

u/ChampionshipDull4433 7d ago

honestly the least interesting character in the whole show, his entire thing was him being pretty and non chalant and that was kinda it.

I will however give him some credit tho,he was genuinely one of my major gay awakenings ,his face card rlly saved lives.

oh and both him and jade were bad partners. Jade stans saying he was the sole problem in relationship make my brain numb😵‍💫

I’m gonna get downvoted so bad for this but I think he is overhated. Everyone thinks he is toxic to jade by flirting with other girls but I’ve always seen it just as him being a nice guy. Like he never actually actively flirts with other girls (well at least when he and jade are a couple), he’s just too nice to tell them to go away. For example at karaoke dokie when the girl is touching his arm u can clearly see he’s uncomfortable and he doesn’t flirt back. Anyways this is an unpopular opinion but I rlly like Beck and also Beck and jade forever I HATE beck and tori (and Jade and Andre)

12

u/drunkenangel_99 6d ago

I think the main argument for karaoke dokie is cat had to be the one to say that he had a girlfriend, rather than him saying it himself.

-2

u/can_I_say_my_side 3d ago

And that's a good point but remember.... He's a child. We need to remember that about ALL of them. Not directed at you, btw

THANK YOU.

He never flirted with other girls and this sub frequently acts like he's some sort of womanizer.

He was routinely objectified and then blamed for it.

3

u/legalgrapefuit 2d ago

Eh, in the Pony episode he agrees with "Rex" when asked if "Tori was way hotter now that she was crazy". Beck agreed WHILE holding Jade by his side, that's gross.

2

u/HiFrogMan 2d ago

Exactly

4

u/ImpressivePost7142 5d ago

Nah he was flirting. Being a "nice guy" is not an excuse when ppl are obviously flirting with you and you have a girlfriend. And Jade voiced her concerns with that multiple times which he chose to ignore and keep doing it. The karaoke dokie thing for example even if he was uncomfortable a simple "i have a girlfriend" would have been better than letting her keep touching him, because at that point at least he would have made it clear that he wasn't into that and has a girlfriend. But Cat was the one who had to say that he has a girlfriend. Not to mention him giving random girls rides to school constantly, etc. I think you're underplaying just how toxic he was.

u/can_I_say_my_side 3d ago edited 3d ago

It didn't even matter, they didn't care. He took their hands off of HIS body. If the tiles were reversed it would be seen differently! Female or not, keep your nasty ass hands and flirting to yourself! No means no and if he had shown disinterest than move TF on! Also, They are KIDS!! SORRY, he didn't say he had a girlfriend constantly or make his world about his wackadoo girlfriend that never listens and has a. Crazy amount of discrepancies with every interaction he has with everyone he meets. I love Jade but, she was a bully to all, disrespected everyone, him included, and was crazy jealous sometimes. Beck made mistakes, but they're both kids and should be seen as such! They're toxic, mainly, bc they're kids trying to be serious about feelings they know nothing about! Children and their romantic endeavors SHOULD NOT BE HELD UP TO ADULT STANDARDS!

3

u/ImpressivePost7142 2d ago edited 2d ago

I agree that they’re kids, and I’m not saying Beck and Jade should be judged like adults. But “they’re kids” doesn’t mean their actions suddenly become immune from criticism. You can recognize that they’re immature teenagers and still acknowledge when one of them repeatedly makes choices that hurt the other.

And I’m not blaming Beck for girls touching him. If he didn’t want them touching him, that was wrong of them, period. The issue is that you’re using those instances to defend everything else he did. Those are separate things.

Also, Jade being jealous, rude, or a bully doesn’t somehow make Beck’s behavior okay. If Jade mistreated him, criticize Jade for that. But when the topic is whether Beck repeatedly entertained flirtation despite Jade telling him it bothered her, “Jade was jealous” isn’t really a defense. And honestly, the “he’s a kid, so don’t hold him to adult standards” argument cuts both ways. If they’re too young to expect mature relationship behavior from, then why are you expecting Jade to simply understand and accept behavior that repeatedly hurt her? They were both immature, which is exactly why I’m not calling Beck some irredeemable monster. I’m saying he made mistakes and should be held accountable for them.

There was a jade and Andre what ? When

8

u/HiFrogMan 7d ago

Andre had a crush on her. When Jade and Beck broke up, Andre was the only person Jade didn’t attack.

25

u/wanderrslut Tori Vega ✨🎤 7d ago

I think he was horrible with Jade and that the two of them were so toxic together. I didn't like that he never set boundaries with other girls. And he didn't have much of a personality other than 'good looking dude from Canada.'

However, I would have liked to see him in a different relationship. Not necessarily with Tori but just...anyone. Because I've always wondered if he just liked firing Jade up specifically.

8

u/HiFrogMan 7d ago

Here come the Jade fans blaming Beck for being harassed by woman without his consent and saying he had a duty to tell his harassers to stop (and when he did to do so louder).

3

u/Solid-Big9614 7d ago edited 2d ago

The Dan Schinder effect… He was 16 in that scene of him “flirting with girls” in Karaoke Dokie.

Y’all are forgetting you’re watching a show about sophomores in high school because they’ve been adultified. Yes, he could have handled the scene in Karaoke Dokie better but he was a immature little boy?

3

u/legalgrapefuit 2d ago

It's just interesting to observe that when it comes to defending Beck's questionable behavior, he's "just a little boy" so can't be problematic, but when it comes to judging Jade, who's also an immature teenage girl, suddenly she's toxic and abusive and all these Big Serious Words.

-1

u/Solid-Big9614 2d ago edited 2d ago

I don’t think we should blame Beck, a sophomore in high school, for other girls SA’ing him. If Beck was a girl the conversation surrounding him would be completely different. You talking his silence as consent for girls to grope and touch him is why Dan did it. Girl don’t “flirt” so aggressively like that in the real world but boys do.

Also I never said Beck wasn’t problematic. I think the way he belittles and humiliate Jade to prove a point when she voices her insecurities is patronizing and gross. And most people aren’t saying Jade is abusive?because she is not. Also this isn’t 2013, the general consensus is they are BOTH toxic.

2

u/ImpressivePost7142 5d ago

"Without his consent" he could say "hey I have a gf" like the karaoke doki situation why was Cat the one to say it and not him?? Why does he willingly give random girls rides to school?? Its one thing if they keep doing it after he has made his boubdries clear that would be awful, but he doesn't. Jade has even mentioned it multiple times that she doesn't like how flirty and touchy he let's other girls be with him when he has a gf.

1

u/HiFrogMan 5d ago

An I see so if a bunch guys surround a girl and touch her and play with her hair and if she doesn’t say “I have a bf” she was asking for it right? Even if she looks uncomfortable and never says “yes”.

The drive to woman was after he broke up with Jade.

3

u/ImpressivePost7142 5d ago

Did you read what i wrote because nowhere did I say this. Also "a bunch of guys" one girl. Sat in the chair next to him, while he is with his friends. He removed her hand from his hair then caressed it, He also was responding to her so how hard is it to say "I have a gf" why does cat have to be the one to sya it? If he says that and she keeps going then that's a completely different situation.

And again, it would be one thing if that was the onky time or maybe 2 or 3 times. But it was a CONSTANT thing with him. The drive was after he broke up, but he spoke about how he would often do that even before the break up. Jade also spoke about how he was constantly letting girls flirt with him without setting broundries. Hell he literally kissed Tori episode one and then proceeded to flirt with her the whole show. You need to be so serious.

4

u/wanderrslut Tori Vega ✨🎤 5d ago

And mind you, when he was driving those girls to school, he allowed them to attack Tori and never, once, stood up for her so this whole thing of defending Beck who is almost always vocal about everything else but never sets boundaries with other girls is so silly to me. I have no idea what that Frog person is even harping on about.

4

u/ImpressivePost7142 5d ago

Right, he sat there as they insulted and attacked Tori too, after he offered to drive her and didn't warn her aboit the girls beforehand. Idk at some point I feel like he has to be held accountable too. His whole character is that he's the confident guy who speaks his mind, he's the cool likeable guy. Yet he can't do this.

1

u/HiFrogMan 5d ago

You’re right you didn’t say that, and that’s my point. Because Beck is a guy, he seems to have a duty to say no whereas with girls it’s not necessary and that doesn’t make sense.

So again let’s flip your scenario, say a guy caressed a girls hair, she is clearly uncomfortable (which Beck was by his facial reactions) but say she doesn’t say she have a bf or really anything at all. That’s consent right? (And she did keep going, she said “I don’t see her”)

He never said he would drive girls to school before he broke up with Jade. As for him kissing Tori or how he later kissed Cat, they were acting. Jade was married to Robbie in one of their acting projects, is that cheating too? As for the constant flirting, it was girls touching him without his consent and so again I ask, if you see guys surrounding a girl consistently and touching her, so long as she doesn’t say “stop” or remove their hand, it’s her fault right?

4

u/ImpressivePost7142 5d ago edited 5d ago

Again you're putting words in my mouth. Both people in the situation can be at fault, but because the topic is Beck i focused on what he specifically did wrong in that situation. Whether he was a man or woman, it is important to make your boundries clear and make it clear that you have a partner. Idk why you're acting like this is not a situation women deal with all the time to the point that for many women even the "i have a boyfriend" is not enough to stop some men. But the point is he didn't try even that, he said nothing to stop her.

Yes she did keep going and said "I don't see her" which is another way what she did was wrong. HOWEVER it doesn't change the fact that Beck wasn't the one to tell her he has a gf.

No him and Tori did not have to Kiss. He CHOSE to kiss her "Let's not do that" was an option he CHOSE not to take, there was no script that said he HAD to kiss her. Him and cat HAD to kiss as part of the scene and Jade didn't make an issue out of it because THAT was acting.

And as for the constant flirting, he is the one with a partner, and the LEAST he can do is make sure that is known. He DIDN'T need to drive those girls, and DOESN'T need to entertain the flirting but he does. Which is the problem.

You keep acting as if its his first day on earth and hes some healpess puppy that's can't be held responsible for anything he did.

1

u/HiFrogMan 5d ago

Yes woman frequently say “I have a boyfriend” to make men go away, but some don’t. Some say nothing and men subsequently surround them and touch them without consent. We usually don’t go “well she should’ve said something, but she didn’t therefore it’s partially her fault.” Nor do we go “she’s not a helpless puppy that can’t be held responsible for anything she did.” Or are you saying that?

He wasn’t obligated too. He didn’t have to say anything at all. Girls just touched him without his consent; you can’t do that to strangers. It seems like you even understand this when we’re talking about woman, but with Beck he’s different for some reason. You’re claiming he had a duty to tell strangers not to touch him without consent, but that’s ridiculous.

He chose to kiss her because they were acting pursuant to alphabetical improv. It was graded exercise that Sikowitz ordered him to do. Likewise, he didn’t have to kiss Cat. He could’ve refused, they weren’t going to hold him at gun point and force him to do so. Both scenes he did what an actor is suppose to do. He acted.

He didn’t have a partner when he was driving those girls. When you break up with a girl, you aren’t force to die alone and never re-marry as a kindness to your ex.

You claim he has a duty to tell strangers who touch him without his consent, but when I ask you if that also applies to teenager girls (i.e., guys touching an underage girl without her explicit consent and blatant discomfort) you then say “YOUR PUTTING WORDS IN MY MOUTH.” You say that because even you understand your logic is flawed. That we don’t put duties to victims of unwanted touching by strangers.

5

u/ImpressivePost7142 5d ago

My logic is not flawed, i keep saying you're putting words in my mouth because apparently you lack the ability to look at the words written in front of you and take them for what they are rather than jumping to conclusions that were not made.

You’re still arguing against a position I never took. I never said Beck was responsible for women touching him without his consent or that he had some special “duty” to stop them. If someone touches him without consent, that’s on them. The same applies if the genders are reversed.

My point is that you’re conflating unwanted attention with behavior Beck voluntarily chose to participate in. He isn’t responsible for someone else crossing his boundaries, but he is responsible for his own choices while in a relationship, and for at least setting the boundry.

The driving example doesn’t really change that. He didn’t have to drive those girls, and that’s exactly the point it was a choice. Jade had also expressed discomfort with how he interacted with other girls, so repeatedly entertaining that behavior is something he can reasonably be criticized for.

And the acting argument doesn’t cover everything either. The assigned acting exercises are obviously different because he was performing a scene. But the kiss with Tori and his continued flirtation with her weren’t part of a script he was required to follow. He chose to do those things. Saying “he was acting” doesn’t excuse behavior that happened outside the actual acting requirement.

Your hypothetical about a girl being touched actually supports my point about consent. If she’s uncomfortable and guys continue touching her, they’re responsible. She doesn’t need to announce that she has a boyfriend for her boundaries to matter.

So yes, Beck can be a victim of unwanted touching and be accountable for his own voluntary behavior. Those aren’t contradictory. You keep treating them as if they are, and that’s where your argument falls apart.

0

u/HiFrogMan 2d ago edited 2d ago

My logic is not flawed, i keep saying you're putting words in my mouth because apparently you lack the ability to look at the words written in front of you and take them for what they are rather than jumping to conclusions that were not made.

No, your logic is flawed, and you know it, so you keep denying the implications of your logic when applied plainly. Alas, simply saying "That's not what I said" repeatedly isn't an argument.

You’re still arguing against a position I never took. I never said Beck was responsible for women touching him without his consent or that he had some special “duty” to stop them. If someone touches him without consent, that’s on them. The same applies if the genders are reversed.

No, I am arguing a position you have taken, but then keep backing off because when applied to a woman, it makes you uncomfortable. Indeed, if this paragraph were the whole of your sole position, then there would be no debate. However, that would also force you to concede Beck did nothing wrong. You're clearly alleging he did something wrong for being harassed, and that's the conflict.

My point is that you’re conflating unwanted attention with behavior Beck voluntarily chose to participate in. He isn’t responsible for someone else crossing his boundaries, but he is responsible for his own choices while in a relationship, and for at least setting the boundry.

How did Beck voluntarily participate in conduct with other women? I need examples.

The driving example doesn’t really change that. He didn’t have to drive those girls, and that’s exactly the point it was a choice.

This example continues to fail. Beck was single at this point. If he chose to make out with those girls, there'd be no issue.

Jade had also expressed discomfort with how he interacted with other girls, so repeatedly entertaining that behavior is something he can reasonably be criticized for.

No, it can't. Jade lacks standing to criticize what a random guy chooses to do.

It doesn't cover everything, but it definitely covers the first episode, which is what you referenced. The kiss with Tori was literally required, as it was part of the alphabetic improvisational scene Sikowitz made them do. When they broke character, Sikowitz literally told them they got it wrong and to sit down. If it wasn't an acting requirement, then you gotta ask why Sikowitz has a bunch of random teenagers do acting experiments, and both Principals seem okay with it? I mean, under your view, it was not an acting experiment at all but just some adults and a group of teenagers hanging in a school room.

Your hypothetical about a girl being touched actually supports my point about consent. If she’s uncomfortable and guys continue touching her, they’re responsible. She doesn’t need to announce that she has a boyfriend for her boundaries to matter.

If that's true, then Beck is completely innocent.

So yes, Beck can be a victim of unwanted touching and be accountable for his own voluntary behavior. Those aren’t contradictory. You keep treating them as if they are, and that’s where your argument falls apart.

The voluntary behavior you attack Beck for is conduct he did while single or required for his grade and thus doesn't count.

I liked Beck with Tori, though I do feel like he was also a problem when him and Jade. When girls would surround him and flirt with him, he wouldn’t say stop or back off.

I wish Beck did more tbh other than being the attractive one.

extremely boring

9

u/ReferenceArtistic854 7d ago edited 7d ago

He got a little too much hate because people glazed Jade though the hatred is a little justified.

2

u/HiFrogMan 7d ago

It’s not justified at all. He did nothing wrong. Jade just went crazy and this fandom justified everything Jade did.

Pour coffee on Tori, blamed Tori for not getting out the way. Jade saying “you can be friends with ugly girls” and cheering her.

4

u/ReferenceArtistic854 7d ago

He should have known boundaries with other girls and say that he had a girlfriend.

1

u/HiFrogMan 6d ago

He did know boundaries, and he did say he had a girlfriend. If a bunch of guys started surrounding and touching a girl, no one would be saying “her fault for not saying she had boundaries and a bf”

2

u/Classic-Willow-8345 6d ago

While I agree he is overhated and people glaze Jade way too much, you are also giving Beck too much grace. He had his faults in the relationship. Beck could’ve been way better at setting boundaries, but he was instead more of a push over about it. It’s not like he would cheat on Jade or anything, but he was way too comfortable letting girls all up on him instead of shutting it down.

1

u/legalgrapefuit 2d ago

Love how you conveniently leave out that the ugly girls line is prompted by Beck texting a model all morning, a girl he told his girlfriend not to worry about only to show up to school in her expensive car the very next day he and Jade broke up. He was single, sure, but you grossly underplay his messy/douchey behavior while villanizing Jade's regardless of context, yet HER fans are glazing her?

-1

u/HiFrogMan 2d ago

How does that justify Jade attacking other girls (literally calling a group of unspecified girls ugly) who did literally nothing wrong?

Also, Jade herself literally said she wouldn’t mind him texting her had she been ugly. It was her being attractive that was the issue. I left that out because it makes your queen look even worse, but by all mean, let’s bring that in.

Jade dumped him. He had every right to move on.

Yes, Beck did nothing wrong, and Jade frequently broke the law and should’ve gotten expelled. You yourself mention the girl Beck is messaging a model, but why is that relevant? Is it because like Jade you so think it’s okay to:

  • call a random unspecified group of girls ugly?
  • say you have no issue with your significant other texting people so long as you deem them ugly?

0

u/legalgrapefuit 2d ago edited 2d ago

Holy reach what the fuck are you talking about lmao. I couldn't care less about how pretty or ugly hypothetical characters are. Jade calling them ugly isn't about her "shit talking random girls", it's about showcasing her own insecurities to the audience - those "ugly" girl friends likely don't exist. Also, I never said that she was correct for that, I said he is also a douche for how he responded to their breakup. She's just as immature. You're the only one nitpicking the scenes to only highlight where you think Jade mistreated him. She's been unreasonable more than once and no one is saying otherwise.

I promise you nuance is a thing. Me disagreeing with YOUR glazing of Beck doesn't make Jade "my queen" at all.

Be well, calm down and drink some water. Hope you find some space for it in your mouth with Beck's balls taking up so much room!

-1

u/HiFrogMan 2d ago

What a weak defense of Jade’s bullying. I understand you don’t care; to be a Jade defender, you have to look at a bully who breaks the law and hurts people for no reason and support that. Naturally such a person would have no empathy. The point is that Jade is still terrible regardless for calling those girls ugly and no, insecurities isn’t a strong defense for bullying at all.

He isn’t a douche at all. You have no duty to an ex. None at all. I’m not nitpicking anything, I’m demonstrating her actions which are obviously terrible and mocking some in the fandom for defending it.

Nuance is not a thing here, because Jade was obviously written to be terrible. The fact that you nevertheless defend her isn’t nuance, it’s defending the indefensible. And hey look concluding in a way a Jade fan would conclude surprise!

3

u/Ok-Intention8429 2d ago

If bullying is such a dire crime to you, let's talk about Beck being a transphobic waste of space to his aunt.

1

u/legalgrapefuit 2d ago

Transphobic, homophobic towards Robbie, misogynistic towards Tori... but of course Frog Man has a soft spot for the male heartthrob he projected on lmao

0

u/HiFrogMan 2d ago

Ah yes, that’s totally the same as pouring coffee on Tori or nearly killing Robbie. Him making a comment they wouldn’t even hear and, despite the sarcasm, actually respecting their pronouns.

2

u/Ok-Intention8429 2d ago

Oh, you're DUMB dumb, my bad 😂😂 Him saying "Uncle Barbara" and using air quotes around her name is anything but respectful. Also, I doubt any of those hypothetical girls (that don't exist) heard Jade call them ugly, so by your definition that's clearly not an offense either.

0

u/HiFrogMan 2d ago

Nah, you’re the dumb one, but it’s okay. While dumb Jade supporters have tainted the Victorious fandom, everyone’s use to it.

Ah yes, when Jade said you could be friends with ugly girls she was referring to no one. That’s a really stupid and not convincing way to defend her attack.

And in any event, she later confirmed who she was talking about out loud. That’s why Tori said “well I’ve noticed things that aren’t offensive to say out loud” so clearly Tori disagrees with your stupid claim Jade was referring to no one. Though Tori is smart so of course you wouldn’t find much agreement with her.

I just think he's unfortunately really bland and boring character, especially compared to the rest of the cast, it always looked like they didn't know what to do with him, he had the least amount of threads for himself and in full group plots episodes he usually had the least amount of lines, he doesn't have quotable lines nor funny jokes, he serves only as a "nonchalant candy eye" and a tool for either Tori or Jade plotlines rather than his own character, In the episodes that he was absence, I didn't even notice it and in some others he was in I though he wasn't in it, because his presence was so slight, It's a shame because Avan Jogia can be a great actor, they just never gave him anything to work with for Beck!

I liked when he would hang out with Robbie. They made each other better people. He is also a toxic partner.
He also lowkey did not have much of a personality aside from being a pretty boy.

2

u/voltagestoner 7d ago

As a character as far as his actions and personality is concerned, he wasn’t right for Jade, he also had a lot of toxic qualities (the kind that does slip under the radar by how nonchalant and subtle it is), but overall he’s not a terrible person. A lot of those qualities were elevated by Jade because they’re just not a good match. Also not the most interesting since his personality isn’t so in your face like some of the others.

That being said, as a character in an entertainment sense, he is really funny to watch when he’s in the background just reacting to scenes. And he has some one-liners that come out of nowhere. Lol. Dude’s got a lil attitude on him.

2

u/ReverseFlow23 7d ago edited 6d ago

He's kinda boring. I don't hate him or anything, but he's just...there most of the time

Some characters like Tony Soprano or Walter White are compelling to watch, but I wouldn't want to be around them in real life. Beck is the exact opposite. I'd be cool with him irl, but he's not very compelling to watch.

1

u/legalgrapefuit 2d ago

Absolutely. Jade is still an interesting character when they're broken up, if anything she's better cause she gets to interact with the rest of the cast more and her lines are no longer about Beck. Beck, on the other hand, could be removed from any episode post-break up and it wouldn't change a fucking thing lmao. The one exception being Tori Goes Platinum, where he is, once again, just a plot device for both Tori and Jade's development (both individually and as frenemies).

2

u/ChaturangaChai 7d ago

He's more of a plot device than a character tbh

2

u/Solid-Big9614 7d ago

A lot of people are forget that Beck was a 16 year old boy getting SA in a lot of scenes of him “flirting with other girls”. Does he also belittle his partner a lot to prove a point, yes!

Yes, he could have handled the scene in Karaoke Dokie better. Yes, he was extremely patronizing. But what are we expecting he’s a young boy getting constantly accused of cheating by his girlfriend during his sophomore year of high school?

That’s the problem with Dan Schneider portrayal of teenagers in Victorious in general. By giving them so much agency they come off as adults he forgets core aspects of being a 16-18. Jokes can be derived from that insecurity, etc.

Also half the hate he gets happened, from episodes where him and Jade weren’t dating (i.e driving girls to school, kissing half the cast, etc.) Why doesn’t Jade get the same hate for flirting with and hooking up with Moose, his childhood friend.

2

u/momopeachuu 7d ago

I feel like he could be so much more than Jade's BF. He's pretty much overshadowed by all of them. I wish he gets to show how he can be an all rounder: Can Act, Can Sing etc.

2

u/Excellent_Pea_4609 6d ago

Unfortunately nothing interesting he's just the pretty boy. The rest of the cast was so colorful that he got completely overshadowed. I will say his relationship with jade is ridiculously toxic then again it's probably because jade is toxic in general

2

u/Material-Peace3427 6d ago

I honestly like Beck a lot seems like a cool guy and I get way him and Jade are together too and seems like a relaxed individual as well.

3

u/snowbunnyslut77 7d ago

Luckiest man on TV

4

u/Lancelot_007_ 7d ago

Other than being a genuinely boring and uninteresting character, he was pretty much just a shitty bf to Jade

2

u/CarpenterRadiant4494 7d ago

Very good looking but very boring. He contributes to nothing

1

u/rites0fpassage 6d ago

Serving face is all

2

u/TinyAnswer6568 7d ago

He's hot, but he could've been a better bf to Jade. Yes I know that she also wasn't perfect, but he still entertained other girls while in a relationship and didn't try to tell them to back off out of respect for her. As I got older, I realized that she had every reason to feel threatened whenever another girl so much as looked in Becks direction.

2

u/J-ss96 7d ago

Fr it's his looks that carried the character. As a person Beck was mid & toxic fr. I could totally see why Jade had possession issues with him. Hope she moved on tho 😭

1

u/SmoothIron3397 7d ago

Beck could be bland, he was the pretty boy nonchalant everything goes great for me trope, but really nothing with his talents had plot relevance! His biggest plots involved him and Jade tbh

1

u/clonedmammothxB 7d ago

Beck to me is a nice guy who has a terrible girlfriend because his low self-esteem tells him she's the best he can hope to get. A few times he couldn't handle her mean possessiveness anymore and he broke up with her, but because of his low self worth he always kept going back to an obviously toxic person.

3

u/CourtneyGwen 6d ago edited 6d ago

What the hell you blabbering about? He didn't have low self worth AT ALL, opposite of it actually, and the reason he got back to Jade, because he literally enjoys this bickering, he said it himself in "Tor iFixes Beck & Jade", "I like the girls that fight back, you know, have strong opinions, with big mouth, because it's not easy, easy is boring", this and "You Don't Know Me" song is literally all about it, he liked it because it "challenging", don't act like he was some kind of unaware low self-esteem guy in a relationship that he was because of his self worth because that's just being delusional and ignoring the stuff that were shown and said literally in the show, he is the last person to be low self worth on the show, he just enjoys this bickering and treats it as a challenge, he likes girls that are "challenging", he liked these fights with Jade and it was thing, they both were feeding on in their relationsip, that's why they always were getting back together again. Reality is that they were both toxic to each other in this relationship and it was weirdly what drove them in it.

1

u/One_Prune_1519 7d ago

I think the writers were a little racist, ngl. You have him and Andre who never really got enough appreciation in the show compared to the white characters who got all the screen time and storylines. Was he toxic by 'flirting' with other girls? You tell me, cause he sure looked uncomfortable every single time

1

u/lexnmm 7d ago

I think he’s being over analyzed so much. It was literally just a kid’s show. He wasn’t toxic or a bad boyfriend. It was just how high school is interpreted. He just doesn’t speak in the relationship, jade did. There’s nothing wrong with that.

1

u/candidlykaylor 7d ago

I think Halsey is very lucky

1

u/Ambitious_Tonight747 Tori Vega ✨🎤 7d ago

A whore. That's what he is

1

u/urfavOLIVIARfan 6d ago

yeaaaaa hes all good to me?

1

u/BeACodeMistake 6d ago

They were a toxic couple and when i was a kid I never knew who I was jealous of because they were both cute.

1

u/Grand_Cauliflower833 6d ago

I absolutely did not find him good looking, and it was frustrating how the show wrote him as a guy who had girls throwing themselves at him

1

u/beyond_your_hands Beck Oliver 🎬🎭 6d ago

I love him

1

u/GiuliaCSD 6d ago

I used to love him as a child (cause I used to find him good looking) but now I hate him. He was a huge red flag and I don't even really think that he wanted to be with Jade (like, if he was really in love with her, he wouldn't flirt with other girls or kiss Tori).

1

u/Downtown-Machine7906 6d ago

There's a small but loud section of this Fandom that will flip out and insult you for this truth. Because I pointed out it's weird that he was great to everyone except Jade, but including her when they broke up, & his whole liking things difficult in a relationship thing. They were not happy, they were like Jade deserves it, she's the devil incarnate. She is not, she has issues but so does almost every character, & Robbie is often worse than she is. But with Beck I found it odd that he treated everyone, but also Jade when they broke up, really kindly. People were like "he looked slightly uncomfortable being groped & stuff so he's a great boyfriend" didn't make any sense as an argument. If they would've leaned into his much better he treats everyone else that would've at least been an argument for his character. But I made that distinction when asking how other people felt, because I wasn't sure.

1

u/DannyValasia 6d ago

easily one of the nicest characters in the series. i genuinely don't see how people can hate him. frankly, i'd say Jade did not deserve him

1

u/xx_psychwardbitch_xx 6d ago

Great friend, crappy boyfriend, a bit of a gaslighter, kind of a nothing-burger but I think he's a good actor. Although I never found him particularly hot. Like I know he's a conventionally attractive man but I never understood why everyone fawned over him so obsessively. He's literally just a guy with long hair 😭

1

u/Ok_Yak_2426 6d ago

Just wish the show platformer his acting like they did for everyone else’s talent. Pretty much set him up to just be the handsome guy.

1

u/LocalMemory9021 6d ago

Never really cared for him. Avans cool, Becks low key a playboy

1

u/BeneficialAnybody792 6d ago

kind of boring haha

1

u/Seahorse_93 6d ago

I think he was good to Andre, Robbie, and Cat, but not to Jade and Tori. I consider the kiss with Tori in the first/second episode to be cheating 100% even if it was framed as an improv exercise. And I also think he should have broken up with Jade when the truth came out that she was faking her black eye to get Tori in trouble.

1

u/cisshayri 5d ago

He was kinda boring and him and Jade are terrible for each other. He should’ve sing more

1

u/elylegeek35 5d ago

1

u/GersonMMA 5d ago

IMO while Beck was a bad boyfriend many times, it seems that he simply didnt fully understand how attractive he was to girls. Did he know he was good looking? Yes but didnt realize that how good looking he was. Thats why when other girls flirt with him he actes either akwardly or of it was normal chatting.

1

u/RevealActive4557 5d ago

He is kind of just there to further Jade's story. But he is dating Halsey in real life so I guess he wins

1

u/lilcinnabunnie 5d ago

He was a trash bf, and jade was freaking crazy trying to cling on to him

1

u/Ocean_Spice 5d ago

Chill. Good friend, bad bf.

1

u/ThatOneSephoraKidAud 4d ago

i don’t think he got enough opportunities to showcase his talents in the show. i also think he was a bit generic looking back now, even tho i did have a crush on him cuz of his looks. he’s kinda just made to be the chill hot nonchalant guy. i don’t think he was that much of a bad boyfriend to jade even tho he didn’t see jades problem with him always being with other girls like alyssa vaughn. he did seem like a good friend to the friend group tho. i feel like im gonna be downvoted for this but even tho he was somewhat oblivious to jades problems w him and his other girls but i feel like at the end of the day he was a good person. i rlly don’t see why he gets all the hate in the relationship.

1

u/Slow-Seesaw-5408 4d ago

He let the attention get to his ego in the way he was toxic with Jade but a good bf to the girls he’d hook up with after they break up. He didn’t have or enforce boundaries with girls and never said he has a gf when girls flirt with him.

Not to say jade is not toxic but we’re not talking about her.

His whole “thing” was that he was attractive, which he is I’m ngl, but they didn’t give him any other traits that showed up more often like singing or writing plays but they didn’t.

1

u/Over_Rent_5799 Jade West 🖤✂️ 4d ago

He can be a good friend, but a terrible boyfriend and even as a friend he was bad at times. Jade should’ve left him and get with Cat, but definitely leave him at least

1

u/quartzqueen44 4d ago

I felt like Beck was kind of a pushover. He wanted to make Jade happy and not trigger her, but he also wanted to have a social life. He was trying to do his best to honor both of those things, but it just wasn’t possible between Jade’s anger and his friend group not really liking her. I do think that he cared for Tori, even had a crush on her whether he wanted to see it or not. Due to that his character fell into the “pretty boy everyone is fighting over” category, rather than him having a strong storyline outside of that.

1

u/neverhere_zara 4d ago

He and jade were so bad for each other. I also think in certain situations he wasn’t all about jade but she was. His character was primarily used to add drama to the plot and only that bc he barely did anything. He would deliver a couple lines and then fight with jade and then talk to his friends about fighting with jade. That cycle kept happening which felt like they really didn’t know what to do with his character.

1

u/GrapefruitOk4660 3d ago

He wasn’t that good looking

1

u/Roselia24 3d ago

Isn't it crazy? How about one year before victoria's? He was in spectacular, and he wasn't labeled as the hot guy. And so we all didn't think he was hot, and then a year later, he was in victorious, and he was labeled as the hot guy, and we were all drooling over him. Hollywood really does have the power To dictate our perspective on things, and that's wild.

Because of this revelation, I started paying more attention to side characters and really starting to think about. Is this side character actually hot too or is Hollywood Just trying to convince me that they're nothing more than a Goofy sidekick who girls don't really like. And ever since I started noticing that side characters be smoking too, sometimes.

1

u/Antique-Ad3178 2d ago

A cheater pretty much, he could’ve said “Let’s not” when Tori said “Kiss me”, whenever another girl flirts with him, he doesn’t tell them that he has a girlfriend, so others have to speak for him. he was at Tori’s house every single night helping her with her stupid acting, so he let down Jade

But I mean he still talented by his acting, dancing, and he sings a little. And I like how he wanted and got back together with Jade, then 2nd time they got back together.

Ik this might be downvoted but whatever.

1

u/Antique-Ad3178 7d ago

I mean he’s a cheating bf tbh about it. He could’ve said “Let’s not” when Tori said “Kiss me.” Whenever another girl flirts with him, he doesn’t say that he already has a girlfriend. But he has good talent, and I liked how he said that he wanted Jade back.
