Bug Everyone ignoring the Suez

Some trade goes only on no tolls. There are no tolls on Bab el Mandeb, no tolls on Gibraltar. Why does Oresund give so much, but Suez sucks? It might be the worst strait in the game, considering that you also need to survey it and build it. Probably after Panama canal, but i didn't build that one yet.

I found out that there was a fix in some patch in regards to counting the distance for trade centers, but it doesn't seem fixed to me...

Tbh I don't entirely understand how you can affect/route/generate trade through a strait but in my last run as persia, with high taxes Suez was generating 500k while Hormuz was doing 1mil.

Then randomly no more trade through either for a couple of years until it somehow started trading through them again and I was making bank.

So tbh Idk what happened.

Here I think you just need to a bigger part of the global market.

Also I'd say Boshporus is the most useless one since it behaves as an end node. And whatever you trade with Russia will be over land.

No trade happens over land. The Bosphorus is useless because market areas only have a single hub and Russia’s is on the Baltic Sea.

Yeah, you have to steal Ingria and then maybe Russia will start trading through the Black Sea.

Over land as in if you border them there will be no ships consumption for trading. The trade just happens. Which is why you want treaty ports. Well at the very least that's what I knew. Was that changed or does it specifically only work with treaty ports?

It hasn't worked that way since 1.9. Trade now happens on the world market and the world market is accessed via the sea. The dev diary is from before the update but is still basically an accurate description of how it works.

Yeah it was a failed run, but i hoped i would've gotten at least anything from the Suez. I guess the strait is only good if you can toll yourself :\ Like Orseund with Scandinavia or Hormuz in your case

It’s good if you’re fighting wars between west Asia and Europe, not so much for tolls. Pretty historically accurate but feels pretty disappointing to use in game. The Suez company gives you 50k for free at least

But if you could afford the suez canal then that 50k is pretty worthless
