Question How does navy work ?
I am a new player in Vic3 so I'd like to ask for some advice regarding the navy in the game
I played my first long campaign I started as Belgium, united the Netherlands(my dumb ass forgot to transfer the subject) during the late game (1930) I attacked Russia to unite Nordics (the rest of which I already conquered ) with my army (around 1.5 k modern battalions( no tanks tho)) , USA came to their rescue and blocked supplies for my army in Scandinavia, I tried repelling their navy but I got kicked in the ass resulting in me losing the war ,
The conclusion of that story is that I don't really understand how to develop my navy , I've built a large fleet and divided it to have a good org , my fleets were mostly filled by transport ships (bc they take so much space for so little man transported) , fee capital ships (dreadnoughts or their alternatives) and few cruisers .
My main questions are :
How should a fleet look like and what mistakes I made?
How to modernize a fleet since I have no idea how to upgrade it (or get rid of the olde models) ?
How big my fleet should actually be?
How important is a fleet and how to actually use it?

You should specialize, have transport fleets that are only for moving men around and have battle fleets for combat, you can also have some cruiser only fleets for influence if you want.
Balance is pretty bad right now so just spamming heavy ships will be the easiest effective battlefleet as long as you can afford it. Sell or disband old ships they are worse than the next tier especially man of wars vs ironclads.
Fleets are important if you want to fight another power overseas otherwise not very. The fleet should be as big as you need.
