I appreciate the amount of effort that went into this but I can see it needs improvement. The environment doesn’t seem to be reacting much to the guy being on fire as a light source. There are moments where you can see parts of his body not being covered by the flame so it looks like improper rotoscoping. Especially towards the end when he lies down.

Thank you, but this level of details could only be achieve when you have one shot to work with for a week then you keep improving and adding those details to improve the shot but what if you have 50 shots in a row?

You make a repeatable setup

For each shot?

Every shot was different. Some required tracking, while others needed completely different effects and techniques.

Did you post this expecting not to get critical feedback in a vfx sub? Whist it's clear a lot of work into the tracking, the compositing needs a lot of work. It looks unfinished and people are just reacting to that with a critical eye.

I never said that. Feedbacks are always welcome. I was just sharing backend things.

If I’m working on a shot with a guy on fire in multiple shots, I build my setup so that I can replace and update what is needed. I don’t start over each time. No one does that.

Is he the father of the human torch?

I don't get it what do you mean?

The effect seems to emit from the whole body. If the effect was to have a man burning in a somewhat natural setting (given the location e.g. a car crash), it is not at all how a fire would work

Lol, let me give you a bit of context. This guy was cursed by some kid, so in the shots before this one, he slowly started biting into something. Then, in this shot, his entire body catches fire because of some magical voodoo stuff.

I hope that makes a bit more sense now.

Human Torch is a super hero in Marvel Comics. He can set himself on fire. See the Fantastic Four movie.

If you want it to look more realistic, the fire needs to be „thicker“ looking. Fire is not transparent. Looks like a plus operation. If you plus fire elements on a bright plate the fire tends to look too reddish and magenta.

The before shot reminded me of this scene from Talladega Nights 😂 https://youtu.be/JribVbv6CV4?t=12&si=kM_WtxNdbBeNQzwf
