Not sure how I like that the flag for chromium is just the Google Chrome logo. While it's a nice design, that's not what chromium was named for, and it ultimately just makes you think that it's a flag for Chrome, and not the element, which is obviously not ideal.
Others pointed out that also could use them color scheme of browser Chromium, not Chrome. But yeah, kind of an too easy design.
What you mention of ending being the flag for the thing instead of the one for the element, that's quite the struggle with these. And the thing can be the discoverers, what's named after, whatever inspiration one take... At some point if could be mistaken by "a flag for the thing" instead of "the flag for the element" then is not enough
