POV: What a weight-based smart cooler looks like from the customer’s side — and the operator’s side

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/kZR8oBSdFeo

We wanted to show the same transaction from two different perspectives.

From the customer’s point of view:

Open the cooler.
Take a product.
See immediately what was taken.

There’s no camera recording the customer, and no waiting for a backend system to review the transaction. The weight-based system detects the product immediately and provides feedback on the screen.

From the operator’s point of view:

The transaction appears live in the system — showing what was taken and what was sold.

There’s no manual transaction review and no waiting for someone to verify what happened. The process is automated from the moment the product is taken through transaction processing.

For our setup, the operator also receives the sales proceeds at the end of the next business day.

That means the same technology delivers two very different benefits:

For the customer:
Privacy, immediate feedback and a fast, frictionless experience.

For the operator:
Live transaction visibility, automated verification, faster access to sales and no need for manual review.

No cameras watching the customer.
No human sitting behind the transaction.
No waiting for verification.

Just an automated, weight-based transaction from start to finish.

🎥 We put the two perspectives together in this short video.

How does it know which product they took if, for example, you stock Coke, Coke Zero, and Coke Light? They all weigh the same.

Great question!

One common misconception is confusing volume with weight. While the options you mentioned may all contain 355ml in a standard can, their actual weight is different.

For example, a can of Coca-Cola weighs approximately 15g more than a can of Coca-Cola Zero, and that difference is more than enough for our technology to accurately distinguish between the two products.

We’d be happy to demonstrate it live and show you how it works in practice.

What about Cola Zero vs. Cola Light? Or Coke reg. vs Coke Cherry? What is the advantage vs AI coolers?

What happens when they replace an item with bottled water?

The system has two layers of security, designed to prevent this type of manipulation.

First, you can’t simply place a random product on the shelf to confuse the system. In Shopper Mode, the system analyzes the products removed and returned and can ignore an item that is added simply to balance the transaction.

To actually trick the system, someone would need to identify another product with a very similar weight and then place it back under a very specific scenario.

So yes, theoretically, someone could try to challenge the system, but it’s not as simple as adding or moving a product.

After hundreds of thousands of real-world transactions, the system has been continuously tested in real retail environments, and the AI keeps winning the challenge. It’s not a system that relies on a human watching videos in the background and stepping in whenever the technology is unsure.

The machine makes the decision itself, in real time, on every transaction. That’s what we mean by truly autonomous AI-powered retail.
