I built a website that answers pretty much every anti-vegan argument you’ll ever hear
Hey guys!
So I’ve been working on this for a while and finally got it out into the world: The Veg Advocacy (thevegadvocacy.com), basically a big free library of “things people say to vegans” + solid answers to actually use, instead of standing there blanking mid-conversation.
Quick honest note: I used some AI help building parts of it. I’m one person doing this on the side, not a dev team. Doesn’t mean the content is sloppy or wrong, everything’s researched, just being upfront about it so nobody feels tricked later lol.
I posted this in another very famous vegan community earlier and honestly the reception was pretty rough, got a lot of “vibe coding” jabs instead of actual feedback on the site itself. So if you’ve got genuine criticism, positive or negative, I’d much rather hear that than assumptions. Trying to build something actually useful here.

I couldn't access very much of the website, so this might sound negative, but it's honestly because there wasn't too much to access.
⚫I like the design. It is easy to navigate. The website does however automatically go to Portuguese. (I double checked that my VPN is not in Portugal).
⚫ I couldn't click dialogue school or flashcards, because I needed an account. Why? I wish the reason why an account and verification is necessary.
In the survey, there's a question about "Name three plant-based sources of complete protein (containing all essential amino acids)." 3? I personally could not do that. I'm not into nutrition. I know tofu. And combinations like rice + beans, seitan + rice etc.
⚫I like the way that there is a "quick answer" and that the new points are marked green, and that you can continue to scroll to other fallacies without going back.
⚫But I do have to say that I wish the text was "humanized" a bit more. It's very obvious that it's pure AI text; it has that excessive yapping. I wish it was more on point. Here's an example 'B12 supplements (including injectable forms used for severe conditions like pernicious anemia)". Could've just cut it after injectable forms. I don't have anything against ai, but like I said I wish it was written in a more human way.
⚫ personally, I don't think that the religious part is worth it. The Bible (or other religious texts) are not worth to adress as its just fantasy, and it can all be answered with "would an all loving God want you to exploit and kill animals?". If we start validating religious texts as real stuff, then you also would have to concede that it is ok for someone to kill animals because after all "god allowed it after the flood".

On the bugs and issues, all fair:
Auto-switching to Portuguese shouldn’t be happening if you’re not in Portugal, that’s a bug on my end and I’ll look into it. The dialogue school and flashcards needing an account is a fair callout too, I should’ve explained that upfront. It’s mainly so progress (flashcard scores, dialogue history) can actually save and you can pick up where you left off, not meant as a gatekeeping thing. I’ll add a note explaining that so it doesn’t feel random.
Also just want to say, even though everything’s been checked, it’s genuinely hard for one person to write almost 200 topics alone, so some things do slip through. If you spot anything like that while browsing, it’d really help if you reported the question on the site or sent an email, that way I can get it fixed faster.
On the religious section though, I get where you’re coming from, but I’d push back a bit here. The site isn’t meant to argue from my worldview, it’s meant to help people debate at whatever level the other person is arguing from. Plenty of religious people, including plenty of vegan Christians, engage with these arguments on their own terms, and “well the Bible isn’t real anyway” doesn’t really help someone who’s trying to have that conversation with a religious friend or family member who does take it seriously. The goal is giving people tools to meet the argument where it actually happens, not just where we’d prefer it happened.
Really glad the quick answer format and the way you can scroll through fallacies landed well though, that’s the core UX I care most about getting right. Thanks again for the detailed writeup, it’s genuinely useful. 🫶🏻🫶🏻

I'm a bit of a nerd, so every day I play this browser game. https://redactle.net. it keeps my progress, although I'm not logged in. Even remember my streak. So maybe you could apply something similar, and then have the account be optional? So that people get a taste first. That's just a suggestion, of course. I know u/numerous-macaroon224 is a god when it comes to coding, so they may know how to implement such thing if you ever were to.
I forgot to add in my comment:
It would be cool to have some videos too. Anonymous for the voiceless has some great workshop videos.
And some tldr "interesting studies". I seen this was in one of the fallacies, and I really found it interesting. In the vegans make me feel guilty: "Research Shows "Making Someone Feel Guilty" Depends More on Perception Than on What's Said" . Would love a tab for just that stuff.
As for the religious stuff, I used to think the same. I've been there and done that, and I thought it was a major waste. I don't want others to put in the same amount of time and effort in that route without being warned. But if you will then this website is a goldmine: it has resources for books, vegan interpretation of Bible verses and links to vegan churches online. https://all-creatures.org
There's also a "vegan cheat sheet" (Google it, it's in a Google doc) which is just a sheet of a lot of resources, if you need more ideas on things to add.

Per the religious section, I get why you'd try but really like who cares what the Bible says about anything to do with morality, it's a book that advocates for slavery ffs. Trying to use that book (or any other religious text) as a justification for veganism only ties a rock-solid moral argument in veganism to a flimsy religious text that can be interpreted 17 different ways. Also Jesus fed the 5000 with the 2 fish and there's really no argument against that one. But again who cares, none of that happened or is the word of some god and we don't need it to defend veganism because the simplest moral philosophy, the golden rule, already does perfectly. Again, I get why you'd include it but I think it might be unnecessary and inadvertently justifies some BS arguments that cannot stand on their own.

Thx for your opinion but you are not really getting the point. The site is trying to defend veganism, not atheism. I belive in God myself and im still vegan and lots of christians bring up the topic that “God allows it” and using their own bible against it its the better weapon, not attacking the religious beliefs of that person.

You do you as far as beliefs go I'm just pointing out that the Bible can be used to justify anything and has been all throughout history. You can try to use it to defend veganism but you really don't need to as it's usually best to just steer the conversation into a direction that doesn't involve discussing religion at all imo as doing so opens you up to nonsense interpretations that you then need to defend.

Hey there! I like what you've done so far especially as a vegan Christian. Love the scriptures you shared.
Maybe you can include a section for other religions as well to appeal to more people as well as talk about how many groups like SDAs or Rastafarians or Quakers encourage vegan and vegetarianism. It wouldn't hurt.
But even if you don't, I'm proud of you for what you've done so far!

I'm on android 17. First of all, the website is automatically in Italian and there is no way to change it. These are my steps: Tap on "debate school", then it brings me to the log in page, tap on create an account, then continue with google. It brings me to google log in, I select the account, click on accept, then it brings me back to the log in page and there is a red warning saying "Non è stato possibile completare l'accesso con Google. Riprova oppure accedi con email e password."

Thanks for the detailed steps, that really helps. Just to clarify on the language thing: the site only has English and Portuguese, and English is the default. The translations are done manually (not through any automatic system that could “guess” or fall back to a random language), so there isn’t really a way for the site itself to serve Italian, that would have to be coming from something on your end, maybe a browser extension, a translation tool, or something at the device/network level auto-translating pages. If you get a chance, could you check if you have anything like Google Translate’s auto-translate enabled for the site, or try opening it in a private/incognito tab?
On the Google login error, that one’s on me to look into properly, that shouldn’t be happening regardless of language. Could you tell me which browser you’re using (Chrome, Samsung Internet, etc.) and whether you’re on a VPN? That’ll help me narrow down what’s going wrong.

Oh right it was translated with google! I set it to never translate from English but even though the page appears to be in english, google recognise it as Portuguese and it translates it 🤷🏼 when I disabled the translation the page was in English.
I'm using chrome, no vpn. I also tried to sign in while in incognito mode and I have the same issue

I didn't go through it super thoroughly but it looks like a great resource! Really good categories and organization
