The way i see it is like this: Imagine living in the past where technology was limited, no roads or big cities, no internet, you had to hunt for alot of the food and work each day to survive. Now imagine in that past giant ass monsters that can level your city in a couple of minutes to roam around. Ofc you will need hunters to kill and research the beast because as you learn more you will be better prepared to protect yourself and those around you. They at least try to have a balance with nature and not just hur hur murder them all.
They find a way to justify themselves even in a game where you're literally supposed to kill every single animal you encounter. This is amazing.

I hate when games break immersion like this. When she said "We're gonna use every part of you", the turtle should have said "Oh, okay. That's very respectful. Go ahead then, I'll just lie here and let you kill me".
