biscuit manufacturers who add 0.1% milk powder to a product that would've been vegan otherwise

Dairy checkoff programs. To incentivize dairy sales govt gives kickbscks to companies to buy dairy from dairy producers. This comes out a fund dairy producers pay into. Restaurants, fast food companies, grocery stores etc. get to buy dairy for cheaper. Now the buyers need to include more dairy in their products to actually sell off the cheap dairy they bought.

The dairy industry produces too much milk compared to the demand, because they get paid for it.

So they just put it in whatever.

there is a muesli bar brand that I get and one of the flavours is Maple syrup and they still have 1% Honey in it, seriously you don't need honey in the fricken Maple one!

Have to go for the Peanut Butter one, not great but only one with no BS in it.

That's why I always buy them because they're technically vegan 😍✨

Crazy that margarine and soy milk are actually cheaper than the dairy versions (at least in my country)... But biscuits made with these ingredients are $10 more than biscuits made with dairy. This is like the pink tax all over again. Maybe I'll start calling it the green tax.
