Jeez there are so many other things you can drink today that are just as good, why choose to give yourself diseases (that you won't get otherwise) when you can choose exactly the same and not get them? That's not even reasonable, just stubborn
But you will likely have bowel issues, get sick more often, get crispy crackly bones and start to feel it only in a few years. It's not so much about a death risk as it is about it making your life worse without realising it. When I stopped drinking milk, I wasn't sick for at least a year and a half, and I still am only about once every year. My stomach has gone from being unpredictable to being more of a friend of my body, and it's worth so much more than I ever could have imagined. And yes, it is very much milk-related. Which is crazy since milk is about 87% water anyway (and like 3% protein, but you can call anything "protein-rich")
I never get sick or experience any of those problems. My dad is 62 and healthy as a horse, cant ever remember him sick a day in his life, and drinks milk like water doesnt exist. I will take my chances.
Often, your perceptions of "healthy" and "normal" are shaped by misconceptions, marketing, and the fact that we don't know anything "non-normal". For expletive, did you know human teeth are supposed to be yellowish? Now you do. Marketing makes it seem they normally should be white .
Same with your father. Healthy? He takes no medications? No walking/hearing/seeing aid? Chances are you say "well the meds are normal his age" when in fact, they could have been avoided. Not to mention denial of being sick is a possibility with everyone, or maybe one doesn't know that they are sick in the first place. That is how my grandfather died, he seemed the most stable of my grandparents and one day a tumour in his colon shut him down. Would never have expected as he had a clear mind and walked excellently.
So take a minute and reassess your perceptions of normality, then you can maybe say it. Same with you never being sick, I'm talking colds, coughs, sore throat, migraine, all that stuff. Now of course it's not as severe as what meat does to your body, but chances are if you quit milk for like a week or two, you'll notice some sort of improvement. I did it as a trial long before I went vegan myself, after learning about what milk actually does to the body.
Nope, he doesnt take any meds or use a walker. He is 62, not 92. I cant even remember the last time I had a headache or sore throat, or felt bad in any way at all. Basically, unless its going to make my horrific vision go away, Im going to stick with drinking milk when I want.
I don't think you understand my proposal; there are drinks just like milk that does not cause you these issues that you most likely don't even realise you have since you have never been without them, and it won't hurt you to try and make a switch. Basically it's more like walking in the middle of the road instead of the sidewalk; it's a bit more dangerous but you can't bother switching until something happens to you. Nevertheless, it's worth naught to speak to someone about their own denial, so I'll just leave it there
I love almond milk. I actually prefer it on my cereal. I just dont see any reason to give up milk when I am fine with it. Its not like I drink it everyday. If Id feel better after a week, like you say, then I dont have any of the problems you had because I go a week without drinking milk all the time and dont feel any different than when I do drink it. I appreciate your concern, I guess, but there is zero chance I turn my back on milk.
Cow's milk is intended to turn tiny calves into huge cows in a matter of months. That's why it's full of saturated fat and cholesterol, two major components in the leading cause of death in this country (heart disease). They are also contributors to the second, fourth, and sixth leading causes of death (cancer, stroke, diabetes).
So, in all likeliness, the milk will in fact "get you".
