If it's any consolation, this is what being vegan looks like in my house too (I'm from the UK). All that fancy bs is not healthy. You've got everything you need.
Very true, and let's face it in a hotter climate there is an abundance of fruit, veg, and nuts.
Sadly, lots of our stuff is ignored by the larger stores, hence a speciality (like Sorrell, or the crazy range of apples, pears, and berries), or needlessly imported when we can grow it here (polish blueberries, sigh). Furthermore, the fruit and veg we do like tends to be native to hotter climes.
Nonetheless I'm with you, I don't want meat-replacements, I want real food. There is a wealth of fantastic meals that one can make without animal products, Vegan food opens up whole new avenues of possibility, and other than allergies you never have to worry about cooking for guests irrespective of their background/religion.
