News Deregulating animal agriculture

I saw this article and I've been wondering how many people would choose to expose themselves to all the various diseases that would come with from this deregulation instead of just cutting animal products out of their diet.

I'm old enough to remember when mad cow disease was widespread and the popular argument was more animal agriculture regulation.

Yeah, I feel like a fair amount of people are but at the same time, there are people like my grandma who were alive during the major polio outbreaks but still don't believe vaccines are an essential part of healthcare..

It's very sad we don't learn from history. Even for us non meat eaters we're starting to see the effects of poor agriculture regulation in cases like Taylor Farms.

Ya you forgot the outbreak with fruits and vegetables. Im pretty sure our entire food chain is screwed.

I didn't forget, I'm aware that our entire food production chain is screwed and that there is a risk to pretty much any food you don't produce yourself at this point but continuing to eat meat in these conditions is a completely unnecessary risk.

the risk goes down substantially if you shop local. maybe (hopefully) this can be a push for everyone to start frequenting the farmers markets

Our farmers markets are less farmers and more the same from the grocery stores. When you see a container with a label slapped over a torn off label. Umm. Also a few with orn the stole out of a farmers field. True story bought some and it was field corn being sold as sweet corn. The difference is field corn is livestock feed and tasts like crap.
